Followers 2 While waiting for the Great Electric Train Show to open on Sunday morning, I visited Tony's Trains stand and relieved him of a Hornby Peckett. I went back 20 minutes later and complained about the condition of the box contents . . . . . . . 9 4 3
RMweb Gold Gilbert 16,229 Posted October 14, 2019 RMweb Gold Pigments only or are washes and airbrushing involved? I have a green one to do.... Link to comment
sb67 7,846 Posted October 14, 2019 You did that in 20 mins, it would take me that long to open the box! Looks fantastic Mick the top of the boiler and cab roof looks particularly grubby, good to see you in action at the weekend and thanks for the airbrush demo. Steve. 1 Link to comment
RMweb Gold Mick Bonwick 12,082 Posted October 14, 2019 RMweb Gold The underframe was airbrushed with Railmatch Frame Dirt. Some Railmatch Weathered Black was added to do the sides and ends, and even more Weathered Black added to do the chimney, boiler top and cab roof. A comb brush was used to streak the saddle tank vertically while the paint was still wet, and another thin coat applied over the top to tone down the streaks a bit. Black pigment was used n the cab roof, chimney and smokebox door. Dark Earth and European Earth pigments were used to distress the running plate and add variety to plain airbrushed surfaces. European Earth was used to represent the ash staining under the firebox door. Random dabbing with a white spirit dampened brush created rubbed and cleaned areas in appropriate places. To finish off, some weathered black was airbrushed onto the wheel centres to relieve the single coloured underframe. The brihgt, clean cab interior was also treated to a waft of weathered black. 1 1 2 Link to comment
