Look what the postman delivered!

Thanks to Cygnet Magazines for publishing my article and to Jerry (queensquare) for his excellent photos.

I guess that although we aren't allowed to go out during the bank holiday, at least we're still allowed to read!

Best wishes to all during these unusual and difficult times.

Dave

Yay, sadly having escaped into town this afternoon to get a copy, the local WHS still had the previous edition on the shelves!

Certainly raising the tone of the magazine! Glad to hear, too, that you have had your copy through the post - assuming, that is, that it's a subscription copy.

Aye, congratulations. Few layouts compare, I hope to see it at first hand one of these days.

Congratulations - Sherton Abbas is a well desereved MRJ star attraction - WH Smith closed in Putney a while ago so I will have to order a copy direct from the publisher - which I will do, although I may have to quarantine it for 48 hours when it arrives along with the rest of the incoming post, packages and groceries!  Best wishes and stay safe...

Thanks to all for the positive comments :)  My usual copy of the magazine is still at my local model shop which is closed for the foreseeable future:rolleyes:  I  was sent my copy direct from the publishers, hopefully it’ll be on general sale very soon.

Happy modelling, the perfect antidote to the Corona blues!

I've no idea where I'll be able to get a copy......but get one I will.

You can sign it at the Cardiff show for me ;)

Lovely to see Shirty Abacus getting the attention it rightly deserves.

Top stuff, Dave.

Apparently you can pop magazines and newspapers in the microwave to ‘decontaminate’ them...!

Yes the “Corona Edition of MRJ is a bit elusive at the moment.  Hopefully on the shelves very soon!

I wonder for how long?  2 minutes max heats the middle of a pastie to the temperature of molten lava, It would be a shame after finally getting hold of a copy to set fire to it!:D

Tried my local newsagent but only the previous issue on sale, so will wait until next week or after. Very much looking forward to it as I think MRJ's photographic/printing style will be in keeping with the feel of the layout.

Hi Al, I shall look forward to hearing your thoughts regarding both the article and the pictures:)  The pictures are a nice mix of colour and B/W and I’m very pleased at how they’ve turned out.

I hope you’ve got that oval of O gauge track laid in the garden and are playing trains in the sunshine!

Hmm, I think I'll leave the microwave to its more traditional use.

Told you so!

Congratulations Dave, very much deserved. I know it's all your work, but Sherton Abbas feels like a real 'RMweb layout', born and bred in the community. :)

Only if no staples. Surprisingly strong electric fields are produced, especially at sharp corners - enough to ionise the air, producing sparks - so there's then a danger of starting a fire. I did read (possibly in ERs) of someone who successfully microwaved The Times but incinerated Private Eye. Of course MRJ is on much higher-quality paper than Private Eye, but still I wouldn't want to risk it.

I believe there's a much higher risk of the packaging being contaminated with the virus, as it's been handled much more. So open the envelope with the gloves on, dispose of the envelope, wash hands, and enjoy.

Is this a good time to confess I don’t actually own a microwave?!!

Combined my daily exercise and getting MRJ with a walk of 2 miles each way to the newsagent. Well worth it!

Beautifully illustrated article with the pics on pages 86 and 87 being particularly atmospheric.

Superb layout.
