Narrow Gauge engine shed on the way.

I'm completely baffled by the interface of this website these days.  Navigation seems like a challenge game.

Anyway, here is some progress on the engine shed I'm building for my O.16.5 engine.  It's modelled loosely on the shed at Maespoeth on the Corris Railway.  Painting the stone blocks is a slow process and it'll take a while before I can move on to building the roof.

A wonderful structure. I like the contrast between the rugged stone and the delicate windows.

Regarding site navigation, do you mean finding and posting in your blog, or general site navigation? Perhaps it would help if we share experiences.

Thanks Mikkel for the nice comments!

With regards to the site, the mobile version seems easier to navigate than the desktop version, but in both cases I don't understand how to directly access my blog from my account; I would have thought that would be a simple thing to do.  I'm fairly sure that in the old version of the site it was one of the items in the menu that dropped down from the user name link.   I get a bit grumpy about sites that seem difficult to navigate as after more than 20 years of widespread web creation and use, I feel that site owners and developers have plenty of examples of how to make them easy and clear to access.  In the early days there would be instructions  such as "Click here..." etc, but nowadays people are so familiar with navigating new sites, that I'm surprised by sites which feel clunky to navigate.  I do think that a well designed site navigation system should need little or no explanation in its use.

I would be interested how many visitors this site is receiving now in comparison to before it re-vamp, though I accept that, at least now, there is a much more mobile friendly version.

Rant over :)

If I've overlooked something really obvious please enlighten me.

I actually like the new design, but then I make extensive use of the Activity Streams and associated filters. If you browse in the conventional "hierarchy" style it may be different.

You could bookmark your blog's home page? Or go in via "Profile" in the top right corner, and then "Blogs" (but that's 4 clicks).

If you do use the Activity Streams, there's an option to set the controls so that they show "Content I've started" under "Ownership".  That will list all yours and others' comments to the blogs and forum topics that you've started. These are my settings: https://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/discover/1536/

If you click on the "Activity" tab at the top of the page there is an option "Content I Started". Would that get you where you want to be?
