Radio Control... ?

Miserable

Over the last couple of days I've been checking out Protocab, a radio controlled battery powered control system that eliminates the need for power to the track. This appeals immensely - no track cleaning, no wiring and you get to drive down the rusty little-used siding without coming to a grinding halt. I'm happy battery life will meet my needs, and I like the idea of re-charging via the engines normal pickups (the induction version, at over £100, is not justifiable on a small layout). There's only one functional issue that concerns me, that is the stepping-up of the battery voltage to only 9v. This may be ok for OO, but (if I finish it) the Warship, at over 2kg, I think will struggle, and I'm not sure what would happen to the scale, but not invigorating, top speed of the 08. Anyway, since I'm now at the point where insulated rail joiners are going in and section planning under way the lack of their stuff actually being in stock has probably sealed the issue, so traditional DC it is. Antenna Models, who I looked at a few years back, appear to have updated as well, but their web site is mis-configured and delivers a .php file to download! I've noticed another supplier too, which I'll check out in a min.
