The Tailor of Gloucester. Part Two. Ivatt 2MT 2-6-0 46526 of Gloucester 85B Barnwood Shed. Detailing a Bachmann Model.

Eventually I've completed my take on Gloucester 85B resident 46526 using the excellent Bachmann model as a starting point.

Workbench Jan 2021

The DMR chimney has bedded in nicely on the smokebox. Pacific Models provided the source of the  smokebox door number plate. A Fox Transfers 85B shed code plate transfer was applied as well.

Workbench Jan 2021

Usual weathering techniques using Tamiya NATO Black/Brown airbrushed for frame dirt. A dusting of NATO black was used on the boiler top and tender coal bunker sides as per prototype photos.

Workbench Jan 2021

Real coal was added to the tender and the cab roof buffed to give an element of wear and tear.

Workbench Jan 2021

Crew once more were a combination of the excellent Hornby and Dapol/Airfix figures painted with Vallejo acrylics.

Detail painting and dry brushing using a mix of Vallejo and Citadel paints. The tender axle boxes and steps in particular.

Workbench Jan 2021

Overall a lovely project using a cheaply sourced second hand loco. Just need to add some lamps from Modelu now.

One for the Forest of Dean Project representing that lost photo of 46526 taken at Bilson Junction by no other than Ben Ashworth. Or was it Jonty Jarvis and his trusty Thornton Pickard camera?

Nice work!!  I've been trying to get ahold of the Bachmann model for a while, they don't seem to come up too often. She and 46527 were regulars on the Dursley branchline. I was born to late to see steam on the line, but apparently saw diesel.

Top stuff, Mark.

You've managed to convince me that I 'need ' one of these little chaps at some point........

Want one...

Thankyou Blackthorn.

Bachmann have done a 46526 as you are aware. This one started off as a 46521 model.

Thanks as well for sharing the a Dursley branch memories. I was tempted to do 46527 but it wasn't fitted with a 85B shedcode plate hence my chosen number.

Cheers,

Mark

Thankyou Rob for your kind words.

Some good bargains secondhand and new to be had.

The not so loved LMS version could easily be turned into an unlined black ER example ;)

I'd like to see your take on one of these Ivatt's especially with your excellent weathering.

Cheers,

Mark

Nice work and weathering to finish it off Mark...:good:

Thanks Pete ;)

There's a couple of heavy freight locos (8F/9F) on the workbench for the ironstone layout which will need heavier weathering so a bit of variety.

Watch this space.. :)

Well, I was going to dispose of one of these as part of a larger package to a large emporium that takes second-hand stuff, but now, thanks to this and the relentless propaganda from Sheepiedoo, I may have to consider the possible commencement of the review process, that could result in a decision to contemplate a possible change to that decision.

(Very) minor point. Barnwood was 85E, then 85C. 85B was Horton Road. Takes nothing away from some great modelling.

Great news indeed CK.

I'm glad you have decided to retain a green Ivatt 2MT at Kernow Towers.

A nice useful addition to the roster ;)

That Sheep Bloke can be very persuasive of course. Going all Eastern Region I'm sure he will be acquiring an Ivatt 2MT no doubt? :D

Um............there's a long queue of Eastern Region themed purchases emerging........and yes, an Ivatt is in amongst it all. If I can find one at a sensible price....but not yet....Once again I need to lie low for a bit......just had a bit of a faux pas on Amazon which will take a bit of explaining if I don't intercept the postman.......
