Southwold Loco Build

This was the progress I have made on the first loco 'No.1 Southwold'. Albeit not finished.
The other locos, 'No.2 Blyth' and 'No.3 Halesworth' were of a 2-4-0 wheel arrangement.
'No.4 Wenhaston' was an 0-6-2 wheel arrangement.
The loco kits are white metal and are sourced from Golden Arrow Models.
I first built this when I was around 16, but have recently stripped it back to the metal, and rebuilt it. I also went down the route of adding 3D rivet transfers, as I felt it gave the model a bit more of a prototypical look.

You probably know this already, but many years ago, we had someone giving us a slide show/lecture at our local Circle. (I can't remember who it was, but somebody'famous' in railway circles & operation/maintenance). He quoted that Southwold locos got repaired at Stratford Works, and emerged painted with GER blue.

Hi Stewart,

Yes that's some very interesting info.

Im planning on modelling all 4 of the loco's that were in the line, in all the different liverys they had over their lifetimes, so I can then run the layout for any time period of the line that I want.

The locos were first painted in lined green, then the GER blue, and then in wartime black. But 'No.2 Blyth' kept its GER blue livery until the end I believe.

But yes, this is 'No.1 Southwold' in its wartime Black livery.
