It has taken me longer to build these than it took St Rollox. So, a few pictures and a bit of video of the rake in service.

A bit of video, they move quite well.

All things considered I have found this to be an interesting build. There have been challenges which meant that I had to develop techniques to overcome what I know to be my modelling weaknesses.  I use the phrase “messing about on the bench” quite a lot but that is the part of modelmaking that I really enjoy.

A couple of darker pictures to show the lighting. I think I got it about right, these would be nowhere near as bright as modern stock. They look ok to the eye, but I found it difficult to photograph. Gives an idea anyway.

What a sight. Our spectacles may be rose-tinted, but we don't get much closer to time travel than this. In the last photo of your subsequent post, the simultaneous appearance of elegant Grampian stock and a short dumb-buffered wagon is a nice illustration of stock diversity!

I also enjoyed the view of the short train of 4-wheelers appearing in the video. It seems to me that the layout lends itself very well to filming. Might it need a bit more lighting towards the front though?

Thanks Mikkel.

You are right about the lighting, it is mainly overhead and could do with being more to the front. Works for viewing but as I am learning video needs a lot more light. I still struggle with the camera, it seems to want to adjust itself even if I'm on manual mode and it seems to be interested in other areas than I want to focus on.

That’s a truly splendid rake of coaches, well worth all the time and effort!

Yes, that's my experience too. Stills photography and videos have turned out to be very different things.

No doubt at some point we'll have eye-control, i.e. the camera films what you're looking at. That should make things easier in some respects. Just don't use it in a bar :)
