Platforms again

The old Eridge platforms were on a slightly different alignment to the new Mk2 Templotted version, so new ones have been made - and it's certainly nice to see them on the layout again! smile.gif

Meanwhile this nice little H class has appeared from somewhere

Trackwork is nearly all finished, with just a bit of tidying up by the P Way Dept

The "H" class shared its boiler with the "O1", so theoretically - because you have to add in the rest of the boiler and the firebox! - a replacement exists for the horribly oval Branchlines casting....

Just noticed that the canopy on the left hand platform (they're not fixed yet!) is a bit offline - too far to the right wink.gif

Well they look fantastic all the same, as do the canopies.

Can I ask what ballast was used? I found the old ballast thread in the archives, but couldn't find mention of what it actually was. I really like the very fine appearance it has.

No idea Mikkel! One of the local model shops had it in, it comes in white, unbranded plastic buckets holding about 2kg, and has "Fine Ballast" written on the side in permanent marker. Does that help? :D

Not much laugh.gif But you mentioned in another entry that there was more when you finished ballasting than when you began, so perhap you've discovered the fountain of eternal ballast! Or at least a cash cow. smile.gif

I don't remember either, it was first used for Eridge Mk1 about 10 years ago! But it's 'N-gauge' and not granite IIRC. It will still get weathered down of course.
