Q1 Charlie update

Hi all,

having made several unsuccessful attempts to transfer the thread over from RMW3, I have decided to give the file link for those who are interested or are coming in as 'new readers starting here'

//www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=51002

Yesterday's progress was to short out the wheels and fit/wire-up the motor - all done successfully and will carry on with the remaining bodywork bits today and then give it a good run at the Club tonight and tomorrow and then strip it down ready for a final dunk in the Viakal and the paintshop.

I'll post some 'building complete' photos prior to the paintshop as and when I get there.

regards

Mike

Hi Horsetan,

it's called being shunted onto the loop line.

Hopefully, it will be restored soon - once everybody stops transfering the 'threads' over.

Hi Mike,

Glad to see you on the new RMweb,icon_thumbsup2.gif I like the Q1s, your model is looking good so far.icon_smile.gif

A while back you did some work on a Heljan class 37 and said that you planned to do a loco without the cowl, just wanted to know if you had made a start yeticon_question.gif as I am quite interested in doing one at some point.

Cheers Peter,

Hi Peter,

glad you like it, the chassis is now finished and motorised, and I gave it it's first run last night at the Club - a minor shorting problem between the footplate and the tender brake standard - to be fixed with a sledge hammer now that the plumber has fixed our central heating boiler and given me a bill for nearly ??300ohmy.gif ohmy.gif

Should have it fixed for another test this afternoon.

I have not got round to another 37 modification yet, but might treat myself to another one shortly, once the Q1, the re-built West Country are finished and a JLTRT Whistler is started and finishedrolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif

I wrote an article on the 37 conversion which was published in teh Guild Gazette earlier this year, which I can post to you if you wish, or if there is anything specific, let me know.

Thanks Mike,

Sorry to hear about the plumbers bill thats nearly another locobiggrin.gif It looks quiet on your workbench laugh.gif look forwards to seeing how you go with the West Country and 40 both interesting locos.

I haven't got the loco yet so no hurry, you may have even done your second 37 by the time I get one so I will get in touch when it happens.wink.gif
