Weather Induced Weathering

Three months without an update, I'm sure that's a personal best

Nothing really to report, I'm halfway through installing my 3 way point and have decided to weather my 21T MDV coal wagon.

The above was achieved by first giving the etched wagon a grey etched primer base, followed by brush painting enamels in solid colours (sleeper grime for the chassis, rust for the body). Once these layers havd dried ff fully, I started adding a few basic washes of thinned acrylics. When these have dried the transfers were added with some Kleer and then a liberal black wash to finish it all off. Finally, some light dry brushing of rust to tone down the transfers.

I wonder what you could move onto now? ;)

I'm now moving onto a nice cup of tea. Well, until my parcel arrives tomorrow :D

Very nice - looking suitably used and abused, but not too unloved... :)

Cheers Steve, I've tried to keep it to a minimum. I might do a few battered ones later on, but for now I'm quite pleased with the result.

Superb - one of Mr Harris' finest kits I presume?

I can't quite beat the 3 month gap in postings, although I'm heading that way at the moment!

Thank you for your kind words, they have inspired me to have a go at my MDO kit next. The kit shown is a Harris design, built to the instructions. What can I say? The man can make a damn good kit B)
