As promised I have finally found time to record recent progress, and inspired by Jon Teal a short video of the branch goods.

An overview of the two mostly done boards, which now just need scenic fettling and fun stuff.

Crosssing the underpass seen in my prototype posts. Have a picture to add to fake the tunnel!

Seen from the opposite side of the underpass, the prairie rumbles round the embankment.

Then I had to actually run a few trains up and down, for testing purposes obviously...

Any thoughts or observations on progress would be appreciated. Still lots to do tho.I am hoping to debut at Exeter exhibition in May. I also now have an almost complete set of plans for the station building, thanks Dad for the cad and Kris for the detail!

Nice work Kris B) .

The trees and the scenery look good and that video adds a touch of class to the post!:D

Seriously though. I love the last shot you took of the Prairie as it captures the feeling of open space nicely.

Looks like a cracking layout and one to look out for in the future.

Cheers,

Mark

Very nice work indeed. I really like the sense of space and the way the vegetation differs and follows the contours. The photo looking up the embankment is very inspirational. Nice video too, no doubt C&S productions has a bright future ahead of it :D .

that is a tiny corner of the freezing shed! Layout currently measures about 8'6" by 9' so not actually that big! Will be longer with the fiddle yard. Chris Nevard provided the inspiration for the embankment shot,  Thank you for the encouragement, working in isolation makes it hard to see if I'm going in the right direction. The reverse shot of the engine is actually from the backscene side of the model. I plan to get the backscene boards in place shortly, both will curve with the line hopefully.<br>

Hello :)

As already mentioned above thats fantastic work. That is what more people should do with N Gauge!

The only thing I can spot is the gaps at the bottom of the bridge bits, you are probably going to do it already but a little bit of filler would really help to blend them in.

Its great to see some progress on this though, cant wait for the next post...

Thanks Missy- Gaps are on the list- Photos are definately crueler than the naked eye! Is your railmotor running now? Haven't had time to catch up with everyone yet.

Yup, N at its best- certainly a case here of less is more.A lovely feeling of space and setting, and I'm sure a lot will be following progress with interest.

Cor seems I'm getting credit for your work now DD, still as it looks very good I'm not disappointed about that. laugh.gif

You've wagons are nicely weathered, and it looks like you have made a huge amount of progress on the layout over the past couple of months, far more than I have.

Yes but you have to make all your track and most of your stock! Where did you get the 2 courses of red brick for the arch on your Avon bridge? I need some similiar for the 3 arch bridge on the old Plymouth road.

The 3 courses of red brick came from a sheet of embossed bricks, possibly slaters from which I cut out 3 rows for each end of the arch then stuck them on a row at a time, trying to get them the right way round.

I like. A lot! :) Your first shot has convinced me to re-plan my layout so I can add an optional board between the main station area and the fiddle yard so that if I ever have the room I can bolt it in place for a larger scenic section. That long stretch of open track in the countryside is too good an opportunity to miss out!

Thanks Kris. Those drawings you sent sorted out my KBridge plans. If you would like a scale set of drawings for the main station building I now have them.

That was my thinking too. I am trying to make a few modular scenic boards so I can vary the length of the run in. Eventually I plan to have some sections from the whole length of the branch, the crossing station and maybe the main line junction station at Brent so I can run some mainline engines and stock, plus have a branch service leaving an tootling down the branch. I have no idea where I'd be able to operate such a layout however...
