Progress - January 2011
Some of the other group members now have access to post to the blog but it was decided by popular demand that I should post a progress update. We decided to dedicate our most recent meeting for a photo shoot. Surprisingly I was the only one who showed up with a camera... even though I don't rate my abilities at phtographing 2mm scale models very highly. Anyway, here are the results.
The station area with my favourite Warship waiting to depart. John Russell has been doing a lot of work on the ground surfaces, roads and pavements. A row of buildings is also sprouting up behind the station. I've been painting the sea wall (I'll say more about this in another post). We're a bit worried about the colour mismatch between the sea wall and the retaining wall so further changes may be afoot. The beach is still looking pretty white but it's too handy for parking tea cups while work is in progress.
A few more buildings (built by John and myself) in the middle of the layout. The big hotel is just a mock-up while I try to figure out a good way to reproduce Critalls steel framed windows neatly in 2mm scale.
The East end of the layout with the unfinished chapel (another one of mine) on the hill overlooking the loco sidings. The grass is still awaiting some toning down.
A ground level view along the station frontage (built by Dick Chapman) showing the goods yard and parcels road.
Not strictly progress, but a view of the Signal Box (built by Glyn Rhys Parry) and scissors crossover (built by Richard Lake)
