Here are a few pics of the drain downpipes before painting. They are fabricated from 1mm brass tube with split pins soldered at appropriate points to represent the joints and fixings.

Photos of the stench pipe to follow.

I have revisited my copy of Midland Record No2 and have now found a way of representing the handrail clamps on the walkway so my next task is to make up the signal box walkways from nickel silver strip, brass pins and 0.3mm wire.

I shall watch your method of making the handrail clamps with interest, Robin!

The downpipes look good - 1mm brass rod = 3" diameter down pipes (+ thickness of paint = fraction of an inch). And there's me agonising whether 0.8mm, 0.9mm or 1.0mm rod is best - 'JDI', I say! ;)

interesting and as thorough as ever, and from my point of view the subject matter is ironically topical having spent part of yesterday on the sidelnes of a "discussion" regarding the sizes and fixings of the 12:1' gutters and downpipes forthe refurbishment of Swithland. Thanks again for sharing the details, this is shaping up to be a nice little reference section.

Cheers

Steve
