Operation Mirror Image - Day 1!

Today saw the official start of Operation Mirror Image - from now on, I will add a tally of the time spent and how it was spent (as seen below) for the following posts. So at last, the extension is firmly on its way. The ply will be braced with softwood battens underneath and I will need to make sure I match the board heights correctly. I'm expecting that I will need a new backscene too, but I will cross that bridge when I get to it!

Thanks for all your support, it really is highly appreciated - if you have any suggestions or good/bad comments feel free to say them. Oh yes, and the NG diesel shunter is coming on nicely, thanks to a suggestion made, I've cut off the front handrails to anglicize it further:

So moving on, here is the latest:

Total time spent so far: 1 hour (0.5hr mock up + 0.5hr cutting baseboard top)

As I said in a previous entry, the layout has to be finished by the 29th April! Looks like more speed-building is needed.

The shunter is coming along nicely! I too have had a productive day - but my time scales are a little more generous than yours Jam! Good luck! The shots you took today show a lot of promise, it's going to be a very interesting layout.

As an aside, there has been a news item in the last 24 hours or so of some WW11 unexploded bombs being washed up onto the beach at Calshot.

They are to be / have been exploded when under water at a suitable high tide. No explanation for the existence of this (UK origin) ordinance, but I would think jetisoned by returning (damaged?) aircraft.

An excuse for a clearing-up work force, or bomb disposal unit, on your beach??

That does sound like an interesting idea, Don! Don't think there will be too many modellers choosing this kind of item.

Indeed, a very interesting idea Don. cool.gif

If I can find a suitable vehicle & figures... maybe.

I could always use one of the bombs from the Catalina that I have and have it half stuck in the sand!
