Day out in Warwickshire

Having gone through the 50 million shots that are no good I dug out a few of my day out at TINGS in Warwickshire. Bit of a trek back due to fender bender(s) but saw some really nice layouts and got some useful tips and info. Many pics have been taken on some of the layouts before and my skills behind the camera vary from ground shaking blurriness to bleached out flash infested snaps, some times I wish I know what I was doing and could get a half decent pic.. anyway here are my selections..

1. Hedges Hill Cutting - Great layout, so much detail in a small place but in a beautifully observed way. not at all cluttered in a busy small space.

2. Rosneath - I love this little Scottish layout, taking it's queues from Ian Futers 80's N layouts, which I remember..

3. Batty Moor - the mix of photo a model blended well to portray the Pennines around S&C

Pictures look good to me - thanks for posting them! My favourites are shots 2 and 3 of Hedges Hill Cutting, and both Batty Moor pictures. As you say, excellent layouts and all new to me.

Judging from the movement of trains in some of the images, you must have a very steady hand!

Nice photos Tom...Thanks for posting.

For such a big exhibition, I was surprised to see little photos posted from it here on the forum.

Do like that Scottish layout...any more photos of it / overalls showing the track plan etc?

Assume the 27 is a conversion from a Farish 33...

Hi

Thanks for posting. I was there on the Saturday, and did enjoy the wealth of brilliant layouts. Hedges Hill Cutting is a brilliant scene and Rosneath also caught my attention.

I took both my video cam and my phone camera, but strangly didn't take any pics. Very strange for me, but it does seem the case that few photos from TINGS have made it onto thr forum.

Pete the trackplan was very simple yet effective, pretty much a loop with 2 sidings and single siding. Unfortunately I wasn't paying too much attention to stock that day it was more the scenery :)

Thanks A Murphy and Lee yes I am suprised there's not more pix but alot of mine are not for public consumption due to operator error.

I enjoyed the pictures Tom. The key to good pictures is choosing a good shot i.e composition which you have done. The technically they may not match the professionals but an extra grand or two spent on the camera plus specialised lighting makes the difference. Besides they usually get eveything posed so no blurring from trains moving.

Keep taking them and posting

Thanks Don, I think the thing about digital cameras is that you can just take loads of shots where with film you had to think about things. I have a little Canon IXus but have never taken it off Auto.. I might try next time but I find I spend ages messing around with settings and either miss the shot I wanted or give up and go back to Auto! :)
