Commission 3

Well, I won't go over the details of what I've done but I seem to have left a happy customer again.

It's another Pannier tank (quite enjoyable to weather really :))

Basically, it's all be painted using humbrol and some revell paints, I've added and repaired some detail such as missing brake rodding, some missing handrails, lamps irons and that. Individual touches using springside lamps & tank engine fire irons.

The ash at the front of the engine looks a little too sharp but I think it was the light playing tricks with the camera as it's much subtler than what you can see.

This is how it looks beforehand!

then after...

Please, let me know how know what you think of it.

Unfortunatly as I've start full time work, I'm not doing as much commission work as I originally planned as time with my partner and other hobbies is restricting time for my own train stuff let alone my customers/friends stuff. However I shall be doing bits from time to time. :)

Nicely done.... but I'd perhaps crush a wee spoonful of King Coal for the bunker topping. And the cab handrails may take a bit of burnishing... they were polished to nigh-on bright steel on the 57's I've been on.

Cheers

Nice job, would agree with above, needs proper coal and maybe some cinders on the footplate from the smokebox door (very crushed coal fixed with matt varnish)

Excellent work. Well finished and the detailing lifts the overall effect nicely. Like the shunters lamps as well!

Bit of coal on the bunker and she's done.

Yes, agree with the others about the need for real coal. Otherwise a nice grubby finish. One thought though, I would expect the fireman to fill the tanks from one side only at each water stop as there is a balance pipe between the two sides. This would mean spillage on one side only as any on the other side would have evaporated long before the next water stop.

Thanks guys, as for the coal, whatever my friend decides to do with it is his business however if it was me, I'd put coal in as well :)

Hmm good point Buffalo, it's one of the few things I have been uncertain about however generally you only see one side at a time. Plus I saw a pic of the VoR tank engine being filled with water gushing out of both tanks so on that assumption I "watered" them both.

But thanks guys :)

An equally good point! If he turned his back for a second or two when the tanks are almost full, I'm sure you'd see overflow from both sides.

Good point Pannier Tank, but as with the coal it's my friends choice I was provided with the tools and the lamps to work with so they were present (my friend wanted a station pilot) I would have been quite happy to put a brass numberplate on though.

Buffalo: Yeah, I was thinknig a new fireman or one who was busy chatting to the station master whilst it was being fillled. However I've taken you point from before on. :)

but thank you all for the kind comments :)

Looks really nice :) I've an old Mainline one I need to get around to redoing as one of the LU L9x ones sometime.

Cheers hon, my friend was really pleased with it. I wouldn't mind a 57xx chassi, I have a 94xx body which I wouldn't mind looking at doing in the near future!
