I lost count there somewhere. You have nine coaches to begin with and at the end 12 still in there boxes. I know what you mean though about all these little tweaks taking a long time. It is worth it but occasionally you wonder, if things had been different, whether you could have remained happy with plonk and play?

And I now have 10 Bachmann Mk1s to convert plus the Comet D1938 Restaurant Composite to build for the Devonian. The joys of P4..........

I hope after getting mixed up in all those numbers John you haven't forgot to cut those ribs off the roof!! :-p

 

After talking to Tony on Tuesday night and as part of an Easter project, I've decided to embark on the de-ribbing process, 2 roof's done so far and i've found it surprisingly satisfying! Only the 3 coaches that i'm working on at the moment, but I did dig out the box of coaches earlier today to scare myself with the potential workload!!

Unfortunately you can't plonk and play in P4!

 

I have to admit that my interest in model railways is far more to do with building (as close to the prototype as possible) rather than operating. I hardly ever play trains at home except a bit of testing prior to exhibitions (and not much of that now I have sold Clinkerford!). Is that a bit sad? I really must get my permanent layout up and running again (not to mention finishing it) and send a few trains rattling along the embankment.

All nine coaches have had the strips removed. Can't say that I found it a satisfying process. Wouldn't want to do more than one in a session - I have to avoid the men in white coats!

Maybe satisfying was the wrong word, but it wasn't as tedious as I was expecting!

 

The first 3 coaches are now complete. I may crack on with the Hornby S&D set now whilst i'm in the mood for plastic surgery, which they frustratingly moulded the wrong roof strips on!

 

Looking forward to the pics once you've finished painting.
