Micro Layout - Day 4 - Finished!

Well there we go - its the end of my free time this week, so this is just about done. The ground scatter needs hoovering off tomorrow morning, and there's still one building to clad in card, but apart from that, this is complete. 4 days and almost entirely left-over modelling material, the track is unpainted, the ballast rough, details light, it follows very little thought or planning, but it was fun!

I'll post some pics on Sunday with some stock movements, but this has been really enjoyable. A simple 4 day, low cost project that's also given me an instant test track for new stock, rather than setting up Ring Road.

Don't be too harsh on the quality of modelling, remember this was a bit of fun built in 4 days!

How could you do it in 4 days? It would take me that long just to build the baseboards. Looks good.

I actually like the clean light look it has - looks like a newly constructed line and station (which of course it is!). Four days is about the time it takes me to decide which kit to build first laugh.gif .

I've seen through you though - you had help! Witness the bear! smile.gif

for just four days work that is looking great. when you get "in the zone" you really do go for it don't you?! i've never really considered doing a 'shelf layout' before but this has inspired me a bit. smile.gif

glad to see the central 150 taking pride of place too. get the parrot 156 (EMT) on there too!! icon_thumbsup2.gif

Great stuff!

Speaking as someone who built a HO scale layout in 5 days. I know first hand the fun you must have had working on the layout.

Well, that puts my "quick" shelf diorama into perspective - probably similar levels of detail, but mine has taken nearly 6 months...and it's still not finished!?

Thanks all! If I had more time (well I could just do more in some evenings really, but the point was just to have a bit of fun), it would be the trackwork. The very quick ballasting was really only to cover up the muck under the track - if it had been 'clean' under there, I might not have even bothered. Another 4 days would probably get the track looking good, and smarten up some of the buildings too
