HST power cars

blog-0796119001334776214.jpgYou have probably already seen my Hornby HST power car that has had an indentity change.

it's not the best job in the world, in fact it looks battered, but it is carrying a cast name plate Top of the Pops and is numbered 43002.

I have several 43010s so decided to change it, but as the InterWeb was not around when I did it and I didn't have a picture to work from i guessed about the nameplate and have since found out I guessed wrong :(.

Any ideas how it can get the metal name plate off without damage?

Now for my next trick I need either another old Lima power car or a Hornby Railroad version to convert into 43194 Royal Signals.

It has to be one of these as the later production batches of power cars didn't have the compartment as they had put it in the next coach (TGS) by then.

the earlier Hornby model (front of photo) is the early batch with guards and the Lima (back of photo) is the later batch without.

I want to keep 43125 as it is hence the hunt for another one preferably already in IC Executive livery.

I also need to find some decent pictures of 43194 Royal Signals.

The next problem is then trying to find some metal nameplates.

Any ideas if anyone makes them?

It is interesting that you say that there was a later batch of HST's were made without the guards window. I was under the impression that the guards compartment window was blanked off on existing units.

Did I hear correct?

unsure how they were built, but sure it would be easier not to cut a hole for a window than fill one in.
