it's been a while...

...since I last updated...

Despite having a very severe attack of 7mmitus this last month, I have not lost focus on trying to make some progress on CJM this year.

Various small things have been tackled...all of which individually I had been putting off, so I decided to bite the bullet and get stuck in with them.

1 - I have permanently glued the two main dries buildings in place :O Whilst it would have made far more sense to complete them, paint and weather etc, before attaching, I know what I am like

and I would have just kept putting that off and off...so progress would have stalled for months - Result. whack em down and get a wiggle on...

2 - Some of the small retaining walls have been formed in either stone or plasticard...

3 - A small set of steps have been formed adjacent to the old dries building and these will be weathered in to the scenics so they almost disappear...

4 - Moorswater viaduct has been repositioned as the legs were buckled...some more cuts of the scenics adjusted this fairly swiftly...

5 - The cylindrical stone building now has a proper roof...and now doesn't resemble the cut down bottle of vitamin tablets it once was...

6 - The china clay 'vats' have started to be lined...they will have some sort of whitish resin poured once complete...

7 - The backscene has been sanded and repainted in an effort to hide the joints...but still needs further sanding and painting I note...

8 - The mini sliding traverser is wired and works albeit Heath Robinsonish...

9 - The internal wall of the hidden dries area has been constructed and remains in place whilst the sliding traverser slides beneath it...

10 - Turnout primed and ready for application of paint and ballast...

That's it...each in themself nothing special but the sum of the whole marks progress...

A few pics...not great quality I am afraid...haven't found how to stop the auto flash popping up and firing despite the bright sunlight available...

Overall...new low level walls in place...

Small steps...which will be almost lost in the scenics...

Cylindrical dries building, sliding traverser and interior walls...

blogentry-3290-0-30417900-1338392055_thumb.jpg

Overall...backscene still needs sanding and repainting...

Just an excuse to sneak in the Dapol FGW 153...a bit out of my era, but a lovely model that needed to be had...

Back soon I hope with more progress...

Evening Pete,

Looks like some significant progress has been made on CJM which is great to see.

At last we have some excellent motive power in the form of the excellent Dapol FGW Class 153. The last shot looks superb and just needs a FL Class 66 below on PCA's.

Nice work as ever Pete.

Look forward to further updates.

Cheers,

Mark

Mark, hi - Thanks...its not very inspiring progress...but it paves the way for more significant work I think. I thought you would like the FGW 153... :D

Hi Pete,

I am very similar, I tend to leave all the small bits and then all of a sudden I have a spurge of enthusiasm and get them done.

Some great progress there and certainly an inspiration for me to get stuck into some little bits I have been putting off. May well crack on tonight!!

I agree with Mark, that FGW 153 certainly is a lovely model.

Best regards,

Jeremy

Thanks Jeremy - I need to slosh a little brown paint and static grass soon to spice it up a bit...

What's FGW?

I can tell you exactly what the 'F' stands for...

Thanks Tony - Assume you are not one of those 2mmFS/7mm swingers then? I hear there's a lot of them amongst us...

Good to see that Portmeirion Moorswater is coming along.

Those little jobs soon add up... I know this because I'm useless at getting them done.

Did those viaduct railings ever turn up?

Portmeirion Moorswater

you'll have to help me on that one Andy...:O

Thanks Andy - They certainly did. Pix posted a photo on my 2011 comp thread last year of them. I keep wanting to fit them but am worried they will get ruined each time I try to bring my shelves through our apartment to work on them...

Good to see more progress on here. My modellings the same - a long spell of not much then a sudden blast of little jobs. The clay works is really coming together.

And I love that view under the viaduct - really gives the scale of it

Finally Gone West? Nice to see progress Ditto with the white trees they did the job and first but now are holding things back a slosh of green poster paint would at least make it look natural..ish. Just imagine trying to find room for the viaduct in 7mm.

Nice progress Pete, but you're a brave man fastening the dries down before painting. I admire your (white polystyrene) balls for doing that! Hope there is plenty of room to get the paint brushes in!

The buried track work is looking good too, looks like its had a coat of primer since last we saw it?

Thanks Don - Once I have placed my order with 4D the trees will be removed and replaced in my architectural model making box...(I will keep them white though as I prefer all white architectural models)...but they have helped so you may see them again when I 'treeplan' on boards 1 + 2! In terms of 7mm, best not get me started on this blog about that...but CJM it won't be...

Thanks also Tom - Agreed it would have made them easier to paint...but I like making things more complicated for myself! Trust me when I say, if I hadn't have stuck them down, at Christmas 2012 this board would still see them unpainted...and surrounded by large white balls too

Yes the inlaid track had a wash of primer to flush out the nasties...and I have started to skim a layer of ready mix filler to those areas where its looking a bit rough...

No need for the DAS then Pete. It's looking good. I also wondered about the spheres.... I wondered if this was a base for some dense leaf foliage.... but the Prisoner ref wasn't lost on me, number 1.

It's good to see some progress being made again ... and to see the transplanted viaduct in all its glory. I'm sure that this will be transformed with some colour and scenics planted.... so I'm looking forward to the next update.

Nice to see a train on the viaduct! This gives the clay driers interesting perspective!

Thanks Jon - I must confess, I never watched The Prisoner (am too young ;)) but I asked my wife this morning and she gave me a synopsis...I will try and escape from them remove them for the next blog entry...yes, a little attack on the scenics is coming soon...

Thanks BBS - The extract of the viaduct was always intended to be a rolling display 'showcase' for rolling stock, typical of the stuff that was too heavy to frequent the branch...

Hi

With the camera I have you can hold the flash down so that it doesn't pop up.

Cheers
