Ready for paint!

GWR Horse Box

I picked this kit up from Danny Pinnock of D&S models at Telford last year. The etches go together very well and the castings although white metal, were remarkably flash free and well detailed. I'm going to add some vacuum pipes from Slaters brass castings, as I like their use of springs for the flexible hose. Almost ready for priming and then painting in chocolate brown.

Lovely. I've got a D&S Dia. N8 under construction too, but I have to admit it's become a bit of a Shelf Queen...I must finish it off.

The sides and ends have all been detailed in the flat and I just need to solder the body together. One thing I want to do is fit some suitably sized half-round rod along the length of the bottom of the drop-down door to replicate the long hinge as I think the flat etch for this part is the weakest link in the kit.

Hi Adrian, yes you must crack on with your N8, I'll look forward to seeing some pictures of it when you've finished it.

You're quite right about the hinge at the bottom of the door, it does look too flat and is something I'm going to rectify before painting. I'm not really sure how I forgot to add it earlier, considering that I used the half round wire technique to represent the beading at the top of the doors. Ho hum we all have off days I guess!

Best wishes

Dave
