Cheslyn - Hacking at the backscene

PaternosterRow

Been off line for a while as the veg patch and garden have had to come first. Mind you, given the awful wet weather here it has been a bit of a waste of time.

I've returned to the model for a bit of light relief and decided to hack off a couple of inches from the back scene as I was disappointed with the look of it when it was first attached. I only ever wanted gentle rolling hills in the distance and not the mountains of the previous version. This is part of the build process I suppose - not actually knowing how something will turn out till you've tried it first.

The first pic shows how the perspective works a lot better I think.

The Hornby Dean Single - does anyone have any suggestions about how to make that awful leading bogie look better?

I just bought the August issue of Railway Modeller with the free GWR supplement - it has some really good time line pictures of the trains and logo development. Really is worth a read.

Time for a few well placed trees and to complete the loading dock now I think.

Hi Mike,

Yep, the hacking has been good...and those low level shots work really well. I think once a few trees have been strategically added it will really rock.

Can't help on your leading bogie issue I am afraid...or your veg patch for that matter :(

Good to see you back again...

Hi there,

If I get my first attempt at a layout for many years, looking like yours, I will be well pleased !!

Same weather problem as you even though we live in Ireland ! same problem with the garden etc!! this will make it three rubbish summers over here !

I am just at the bare baseboards stage as we have been having builders in etc over the last few months doing alterations !!!

Moved rooms for layout etc and just getting settled in, long way to go, after so many years away from the hobby due to business and family commitments, I am discovering that I have forgotten many of the things I used to do without thinking, still it is all part of the enjoyment as there are now, a lot more ways of doing even the basic tasks!

Will look in again and see how you are getting on, no help on bogies for Loco I'm afraid as I never got past standard rolling stock buildings an layouts!

All the best
