  2. The consensus on the 4-6-2 seems to be that it was a project kicked off by the drawing office that Hawksworth had halted when he heard about it, so to call it a Hawksworth pacific is definitely stretching a point. Mattingly pacific perhaps . There isn't very much to go on because it didn't get very far. The basic weight diagram in RCTS part 9 is about all that's available I believe. That drawing shows a dome and apparently pop safety valves on the firebox, and no safety valve cover at all. It was cancelled at an early enough stage that really one is free to imagine what one likes, because who knows what would have changed as the design was worked up.
  3. OK I am planning on moving to ABS like resins Elegoo ABS 2.0 seems recommended. What would be a good start point for exposures? Using the basic Elegoo grey resin, the really brittle stuff. Mars 2 Pro Currently 0.05mm layers 2.5 second per layer 35 seconds base layer I do know I need slightly slower lift speeds. Should I try similar, or longer? Thanks Martin
  4. Better that soft to soggy or worse “soggy to where’s me boot gone”
  5. I'm intrigued by the location of the C12, is it Springhead Halt?. I remember seeing the rail tour advertised in rail enthusiast about the peak tour when i was 13. I waited all day for it too pass Hessle Haven at my aunties house. It was getting late so i thought it was a no show and went into the kitchen just as the peaks belted belted past the window :-( . I had to wait nearly 30 years before i found out what they were.
  6. Have you seen the Northern Transcon Cameras? https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCw8RanrPpHhB42ffMvOtTJw
  7. Don’t recall ever seeing a barn owl but maybe just a fleeting glimpse. Like most owls, the one in Shaun’s barn didn’t lurk there for long and I’m not sure that it’s even a barn owl. Did you see the size of it? At about 7 mm my plastacene effort on two Peco track pins is roughly a scale 5 inches too tall. Luckily it’s at the front of the layout so can get away with that by putting it down to using the scale depth of field. Like the way I make and use HO buildings at the back! I was just going to call him Barny😄
  8. Not unique though, both SW Railcams (Wilmot-Tucson) & Steel Highway (both Neenah & Cedar Falls Jn.) have split screens.
  9. I strongly suspect that the fairings will be mounted on the shared bogie - wasn't that how they did the APT? CJI.
  10. @Rivercider Thanks. First B4 I've found. I've not really used Flikr. I'll take look. @bécasse is R the same as numbers? I've seen that on USA tanks too. What is the meaning of the two at mid height? Is it common to have mixed lights and headcodes?
  11. I do like the front/back lighting effect as they emerge/disappear into tunnel . Might have a wee trip to capture the old and new stock . I believe they are both running at the moment with the new stock being phased in I remember doing the full circuit when the new trains came in in 1980 . Makes me realise how old I am . I really like Geoff Marshall’s films
  12. The LMS insulated/ventilated containers with ice boxes were taller than other containers. Diagram 175 8' 7 1/2" Diagram 176 8' 10 1/8" Diagram 177 8' 10 1/8"
  13. No - but persons who have been, have stated the fact, and study of the drawings confirms this. CJI.
  14. Thank you guys the replies are appreciated. I will try and log the sounds that I can identify, like you say someone may recognise them. I found out my sprog will not work with my computer which is W11 without loading the older usb drivers. I have decided I did not want to go there and am waiting for a new later sprog arriving. I also found out you can get the old sprog upgraded for a small charge, too late I had paid for a new one, no big deal. I found the sprog very useful for setting up decoders for locos, since I last used mine I have rebuilt my layout and changed to the Z21 system. Thanks again. Chris H.
  15. The centrally positioned first-class areas were also a feature of the later Collett 57' 4-coach sets as modelled by Hornby, with the coaches marshalled with the first-class ends of the composites next to each other, and the 5-coach South Wales/Bristol 57 footers also featured a central composite with the first- class compartments in the centre of the coach. The D116 B set brake compos had their first-class compartments at the inner ends of the coaches. Presumably the idea was that the first-class punters could board under the cover of the station canopy at their local stations, out of the rain, delicate little wallflowers that they were... The generally wealthier commuters of the London area presumably needed a higher proportion of first-class accommodation on its suburban services, and this was carried over into dmu days with half the length of the 117s' TCL being allocated, as opposed to the short central section on the 116s' TC.
  16. Still smarting from the (historical but ultimate) insult/put-down of only meriting a Branchline Terminus by the Midland Counties Railway.
  17. Lovely layout. Just been looking at the thread as I have just come back from a couple of days in Prague having sampled Czech Railways for the first time. Had a ride behind a 750.7 so love the photo of the Roco 754 Goggle!
  18. Well, there was the Hornby Dublo model that Awdry took the idea of Boco from.... https://www.hattons.co.uk/directory/versiondetails/1952/hornby_dublo_oo_class_28?instock=true&onorder=true&soldout=true Virtually everything that was in The Railway Series was taken from models he had. I was never into TTTE and even I knew what a CoBo or Class 28 was! Jason

  20. Saltley - and Bourneville - both had collections of grubby old LMS engines, some of which, even then, were antiques redolent of Emmet Dunn....! The old New Street - I remember it well. A dark, cavernous grubby maw, the echoing sounds of locos and busy footfall on that footbridge ......it was a main pedestrian route into the city centre and was rammed with people at rush hour. The old northern side was bomb-damaged during the war and the remains torn-down, over which loomed the ugly rear face of the old LNWR Queens Hotel, where my mother used to work. BNS was a dark, dirty Dickensian hole, but not without it's charm for those interested in the locos. I'd still rather have it than the current station, a typical dingy BR nuclear bunker.....! Actually, the old LNWR Queens hotel was large - quite splendid inside. It was the preferred place to stay for all the stars and personalities appearing in - or passing through Brummagem.
  21. Believe in the launch video they said those would be in future runs, with this run being the unfitted variants.
  22. Hroth

    EBay madness

I expect the price-enhancement is due to it being displayed on a purple cloth. The "stunning detail" arises only if you hit someone with it, although that can be achieved with any HD N2! Those "LMS" decorations. They look like the sort of self-adhesive stickers that can be obtained elsewhere on ebay...
  23. Yes I have, which is why I’d want Rose’s lemon or Rose’s Lime marmalade. D
  24. Ok, I’ll try connecting the rails first to see if that works.
