  1. Looks very nice James, you have good reason to be proud. I like the wide streaks from between the grilles, I don't know how you keep them so dead vertical - I find my hand tends to wander. From the chronology, it looks like you did the paint fade before getting an airbrush - in which case how did you achieve it? It's very even and doesn't show any evidence of brushwork.

  2. The rest of the loco is so well detailed that it would have been a shame to compromise on the stoneguards. Stop resisting and buy some more brass! You know it makes sense. Paul.

  3. Paul not knowing the prototype well - I would be inclined to agree with you about those stone guards - if they were 'rail' in real life then a section of rod just wouldn't look right. I'm going to have to stop reading your blogs as I really don't have time to start another kit - and even if I did I'm torn between another Sentinel (for the MSC P4 project) or something more random like an 0-16.5 W&LLR Earl/Countess... Must resist... got a Grasmaster to buy next!!!

  4. James, thanks... will look into that after this weekend's expenditure outlay at ScaleforumB)

  5. Hi James, Sorry, missed your reply and questions. Thanks for the suggestions, I really need to practice with the puffer bottle - I just used it for scatter... that's not right is it?! I'll try some short fibres (all was woodland scenics) and puff that on... i'd just stuck small tufts on and wasn't convinced with the look - hence there's nothing on my display "plank"... yet. Will post a photo after next attempt... when I get around to it
