  1. Has anyone managed to adapt Hornby OO buffer stops to match the height of the buffers on continental HO stock? I expect that the reduction should be about one eighth.
  2. This has triggered a memory! Some time in, I think, the 1970s, I was travelling towards Meigle on the B954 from Dundee. There was still a remaining single-track stub, as far as Meigle, of the pre-Beeching Perth-Forfar-Aberdeen line, used in the original "Race to the North".Sitting forlornely under the bridge was a solitary Interfrigo wagon! I canon's think that it might have been in use in the local soft fruit transportation. Next time I passed, the remaining track had all been lifted. Peter F. ..
  3. I love my new HO SBB Bm 4/4 shunter, digital with sound, from LS models. The only criticism I would make is the slow change of brightness on the LEDs. Peter F.
  4. Hi Robert. Thanks for all that. I think that even the shortest of the Hunts (9.5 mm x2 between NEM362 faces) will leave noticeably larger gaps than the Rocos (approx 7.6 mm x2 between faces). However I will give them a try. I did try Hornby ones for a set of Liliput HO coaches with close couplers, whose NEM sockets are set just a little too far back for the Rocos to couple even on the straight. However, I had to unclip the slightly larger uncoupling loops from the Hornbys to avoid derailments when crossing pointwork. Some of my NEMs are indeed a bit droopy. I also have some vehicles with conversions to Symoba close coupling mechanisms (I need some more) which have good height adjustment. Kind regards, Peter
  5. Hi all I have just spotted these couplers at Model Rail Scotland in Glasgow, and have bought a trial pack to experiment with my (mainly Roco) SBB and BLS locos and rolling stock. I am currently standardised on Roco's close couplers which of course cannot couple up on anything but dead straight track. Does anyone have any useful experience here which they could share? Thanks. Peter
  6. Hi folks What's the best grease to buy for plastic / nylon locomotive gears, and where? Thanks. Peter F
  7. Who makes that fabulous house and garden kit in your 06 Sept. post?
  8. Don't think it is in the plans to run these gauge changing trains east of Interlaken Ost. I suppose they could theoretically follow the Zentralbahn (formerly SBB Brunig) tracks as far as Meiringen, but after reversal the new bogies would also need to cope with the steep rack sections (Riggenbach ladder rack) over the Brunig Pass to Luzern. Carriages require a rack wheel for braking. That would be a further challenge for the engineering!
  9. The MOB and BLS will soon be running through carriages fitted with gauge-changing bogies between Montreux and Interlaken Ost. They will run between Montreux and Zweisimmen on metre gauge tracks, and then be pushed or pulled over a converter track onto the standard gauge track from Zweisimmen through Spiez to Interlaken. 10. Building SBB HO DCC (Lenz), Epochs 3-4 (green locos), round 3 sides of ex-son's-bedroom with fiddle yard below accessed by spiral ramps each end. So far only the "basement" is complete.
