  1. If you're looking for a brewery to put on the pub and can't prove authenticity, why not commemorate one of the BC' s greats? http://blackcountryhistory.org/collections/getrecord/GB145_p_1594/
  2. It's the bit under the baseboard that concerns me. I'm locating my layout on top of Ikea chests of drawers on a 2x1 frame. It seems I won't have enough clearance if I do that?
  3. Not sure if anyone has mentioned this magazine but whilst doing that man thing of everything on the shelf, in order etc (which had slipped a little!) I came across this https://subscribeme....ck-issues/2010# Not that much but eight colour photos including the cover and a short article. Photos are 25273 leaving Stambermill viaduct in 1976 25145 at Blowers Green Junction in 1980 47534 at the Freightliner Depot Dudley in 1978 47334 at Kingswinford Junction in 1978 20061 and 20130 at Great Bridge in 1979 25308 approaching Bescot in 1979 47337 at Wednesbury in 1980 and 20161 at Wednesbury in 1981 on the cover.
  4. http://www.expressandstar.com/news/2012/05/16/the-great-black-country-census/ For the definition I went for the third. Oldrocker (born within sight of Dudley Castle)
  5. The foam mountains ! I'd forgotten about those ! What a great thing to put in a model of the late 50s / early 60s in the area ! Make a change from the idyllic streams we mostly see.
  6. Hi Mark, I have a few books which may help although I'm sure you've probably already got access to them. If not yowm welcum to a borra. 7. No problem Ode Pal ! As mentioned earlier the Palethores vans are an essential. Always seemed to be a couple at the tunnel end of Dudley station. I look forward to other posts in this thread !
  8. The aforementioned Tipton. Had/s a boatyard as well. And this is where I learnt my trade as a railway enthusiast ! http://www.flickr.com/photos/midlandexplorerboy/6256546031/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/midlandexplorerboy/6256546033/in/photostream/ My Grandad worked at the gas works in the second photo.
  9. Hi Andrew, Like the 9f, just starting one myself. What did you use for the wheels / coupling rods ? Bit of a pig getting the coal moulding out as well ! Regards, Dave.
  10. I don't know if this has been mentioned, but what about some low relief municipal type lock up garages? Like these . .
  11. Green Green Grass of Home - Tom Jones
  12. How about a working men's club? Single story, fairly 'ordinary' looking.
