  1. Any latest news on that D1026 western centurion as I to know have her but in 1967/68 blue livery and with headboard clips removed. Richard.
  2. First an apology to all members that have given advice/solutions and help. As dave as mentioned all thou all the advice/input has been tried and taken on board I have not thanked you enough or as it seems not at all. I have to face facts that Dapol locos don't like me or the layout and is a severe blow to my hydraulic fleet and plans. As they say once bitten don't go there again although I have been bitten 7 times just to try and get a result. I envy all that have them and enjoy them and to Dapol and dave sorry if this got out of hand and offended you in anyway. I add the Dapol western is the best recreation out there of these fine good looking locomotives so I should get 2 wooden spoons for this. Richard.
  3. Dave. I rest my case. I have merely pointed out that I have had many problems with a product you pay a lot of money for and time again sending back to the shop who then has to pay to send via dcc supplies then on return find it still fails. I have still yet to see a western in person behave itself. I have not refused help in anyway and have had 5 returned to dcc supplies to help hopefully solve the issue with no success. If this aint working its beyond your help which I praise you for. If this is stirring/ scare mongering then let it be and wont be buying Dapol products again due to the above remarks. All I have done is highlighted there is a big fault in running operations and this is the response I get,so much for customer satisfaction and many of weeks of frustration as to what on the outside is beautifull model. Its good nite from me as someone needs to own up on its running abilitys. Richard.
  4. Dave. Yes its me again. Not to slag you or Dapol off but seeing that members/everyday general modelers are reporting faults at now an alarming pace how many have not been sent back to dcc supplies. I have had 5 westerns and now 2 class 22s fail me and witnessed another 17 westerns in shops run to below par standards so what are the shops/members doing with them. All I can say it gives false information and no one wants to take the blame and a local model shop to me lossed a lot off trade due to these issues ( I had planned for at least 16 westerns alone). Lets hope for the future that things come to light and all the best to you and the Dapol team and we can all settle down and injoy them. Richard.
  5. Phill great video and always a joy to watch. On the western front I will say is should and why you have to do this to get an expensive model to run on a layout. Richard.
  6. I have had my controllers check out thanks and stress my 22s ran fine for 3months but now have both blown the blanking plate which connect the lights. My blue one had a replacement one fitted last week and lasted 2hrs.This is the same problem I had with Dapol westerns and yes I am on dc.It is only Dapol locos that are doing this so again can,t and is,nt my controllers.Saying this my 22s run a lot better without the lights but this should not be the case. Richard.
  7. Why I ask,my transformers operate every other manufactured loco over 40 of them with no problems and are gaugemaster combis so a good make. I cant afford to change just for Dapol locos and should,nt need to. Richard.
  8. I have had 2 class 22s since they were released and up until yesterday all has been fine with them. My blue D6326 has now had a similar failure of the dreaded blanking plate operating the lights which now refuse to light up the same problem I gave up with the westerns in the end.I have also noticed my green 22 is now also playing up with the lights flickering at one end.So after all this time and the problems I encounted with the Dapol western which led to me giving up on them has now hit my Dapol 22s. I have stated elsewhere that no other of my Bachmann/Heljan locos have gave me this amount of headaches.Aquiring more 21pin blanking plates is not going to solve the situ as I found out with the 52 so must be a circuit board issue somewhere along the lines. It maybe that I may hardwire lights in them somehow if it can be done. Richard.
  9. Believe me it took some time for me to decide to file that baseball cap down. On doing so the only thing is to repaint once you have filed it down but the results are worth it.You have atleast a Dapol western to work with. Photos of the results are seen elsewhere on the site.I have also noticed that they benefit from flusher glazing as the windows are also out of shape which in both Dapol have got about spot on. Richard.
  10. Again a visit to local model shop yesterday, several Dapol westerns all liverys on show. Richard.
  11. Sorry Dave. I was pleased with your offer but I received no information from the 5 that went back to the shop including 2 repaired ones returned from dcc supplies that again failed and was adviced then not to buy anymore until a solution was found which not on your part I may add gave up waiting for has heard nothing. You have helped in anyway you could and I thank you for this but I have simply now run out of funds to keep persevering and was acting on advice given as above as to not try anymore. I will not post this problem again but still look forward to members that show them in all there glory. Richard..
  12. Yes I am still watching this thread and since the release and several trails I am still bemused as to why I have been let down and not able to get a Dapol western on dc running without derailing/shorting out and then stop running altogher so alas with no info and seeing for real that it has happened to others including a run in a shop I have had to give this otherwise and much awaited true looking western a miss. Now seeing wobbly westerns and other reports of missing or broken screws/missing parts so much for quality control.. Sorry but I feel I have been badly let down on what was a much awaited model of the best looking loco of all time. I shall just have drool on all the lucky ones and injoy the photos which seem few and far at the moment. Mr angry. Richard.
  13. Worth giving them a call/visit as not all is listed. I was in there this morning and can say they had 10 maroon ones in there with some blue/green still in stock. Richard.
  14. Can I add. Although I planned to have 10 Dapol westerns for my old oak layout I have landed with none due the operational/electrical problems with them. I am thou happy to pass on if folk are struggling to get hold of them that trains4u have a few of each in stock including the maroon version. regards. richard
  15. My thunderer in fresh blue as off 1968. Richard.
  16. Love the photo of queen .Mine is in near to that state shown. Look forward to seeing that centurion in a laira repaint.I have thunderer in that condition. Really makes a difference with the roof profile filed to shape and brake rigging added. Richard.
  17. My Heljan western fleet is 9 locos. All have as I may have mentioned have had the roof profile reshaped. Other detail has included cab detail inc the brake wheel. Scratchbuilt fans and grilles. better wipers. On some new glazing fitted to the headcodes. Valances and pipework fitted both ends. D1040 has had the bogies redone with the brakes and rigging in line with the wheels and may do the rest. All have kept me busy and the running and haulage of these is 2nd to none. Richard.
  18. Dave. Will be looking forward to this project as n gauge will also allow the A plant to be modelled. I have a similar layout in 00 gauge under old oak common hydraulic heydays but only have modelled the fueling shed and turntable area with some out buildings. Unfortually the Dapol western does,nt like my trackwork and derails often. You also have the option of the canal for space. some pics of locos and buildings to help I hope. Richard.
  19. The oval works plate fits just above the fuel filler just under the body and almost center to the whole loco. if youve owned a Heljan one these are pre-printed on the model.I believe later on in life they went missing or were not re-fitted. richard.
  20. Heres some photos of my aging Heljan fleet. included are D1000/1010/1011 ex works/1023/1040/1045/1054 and 1062.a class 15 also appears. richard.
  21. Phil looks, sounds good. look forward to see her on abbotswood. Thks for sharing. richard.
  22. Due to certain reasons i have decided to hang onto mine and 2 more have arrived,1 will become D1054 maroon and the other will become D1000 in fresh blue livery as from 1967. Only one more will be planned ex 1030 to D1057 early blue if i can get one. richard.
  23. I 2nd that one phil.Youve had 2 pms. richard
  24. Phil photos and video please, lets here those maybachs. richard.
  25. Phil. glad youve had one running on dc,am still scratching my head as to why i dont seem to be able to,although hav,nt bothered since the 1st 3 attempts. Look forward to seeing and hearing your D1048 on abbotswood. Lets also hope to hear the real loco again some day. richard.
