  1. They look nice Gordon. I always find the team at Scograil very helpful.
  2. Well that’s 97 windows cut out! Just need to file down and clean around some of the apertures. Then cut out and add some more of the external details before attaching to the side walls. I also need to figure out window frames. I’m definitely leaning more towards 3D printed ones, so will have to research this a bit. Best regards, Jeremy
  3. Those Mafen signals look superb! There was another company doing SBB style signals but I can’t remember the name. I think they also did a gantry style signal too.
  4. First row completed! There’s a bit of tidying up of some the apertures to do but I’ll go through those once I’ve completed all 6 rows of windows. Best regards, Jeremy
  5. Afternoon all, Well I’ve spent the morning carefully marking out the windows for the front of the office building. Only 96 windows to cut out! Best regards, Jeremy
  6. That looks good Keith. There’s about 16 meters of concrete sleepered track on the main running lines of Gelternau so I’ll probably do it bit by bit to break up the monotony a bit. I’m carrying on with one of the buildings today so will update later with progress on that. A late Sunday lunch first though! Best regards, Jeremy
  7. Hi Ian, I’m not sure either to be honest but I’m just going off photos I’ve seen and screen shots from videos. It seems the wooden sleeper spacing is fairly close so the Peco track could be near enough spot on as in this screenshot at Olten station. Its more the concrete spacing which seems to be different depending on location and when the track has been renewed. I’ve used this screen shot from Google street at Rupperswil as a reference. The spacing seems further apart here so thought I would try and replicate this on the layout Best regards, Jeremy
  8. Maybe one day Nick. While my eye sight is still decent though I’ll stick with the scalpel and besides, I weirdly find it quite therapeutic cutting out all those windows. 😬😂
  9. They are addictive once you start watching them!
  10. Evening folks, In the series “I’ve got 101 unfinished items on my workbench”, I decided to add one more! I have a love/hate relationship with Peco code 55 track, I like it’s practicality but it’s just not quite right in it’s looks. In an effort to try and make it look as good as I possibly can, I decided to have a go at increasing the sleeper spacing. i read somewhere on this forum that the sleeper spacing in N gauge is about 3.5mm. So I bought a 3.5mm square strip of metal strip and set to work. Cutting the sleeper webbing to separate each sleeper from the next is a nightmare and took forever but I think I’ve got a technique going now which saves a bit of time. Once the webbing has all been removed the individual sleepers can be slid along the rails quite easily. Before glueing down, I pre-spaced the sleepers to 3.5mm apart and then once glued down, some minor adjustments needed to be made just to ensure they sit straight and that none have moved in the process. I’ve completed about 1.5 meters of track and I’m quite pleased so far, but would welcome all comments. Once painted, ballasted and weathered, the difference will be quite noticeable. A couple of photos. The first with a length of unaltered track in the foreground with the adjusted track glued down behind. A small section of track in the foreground and the altered track behind which I hope shows the adjusted sleeper spacing. Best regards, Jeremy
  11. Morning all, I stumbled across this video last night which shows some nice footage of Swiss trains in 1990. There’s about half a dozen or so that have been uploaded in the last 48hrs (at least 3 hours of footage in total!) plus also if you go to the channel, there’s a whole host of videos from a similar era. Hers the one I watched, well worth putting the kettle on beforehand as you’ll want a nice cuppa while watching these! Enjoy folks! Best regards, Jeremy
  12. Good to shout to check for prototypical info. I’m sure I’ve spotted this version in some of the Swiss railways videos I’ve seen recently.
  13. Thats really nice set Gordon. I’ve been tempted by this one but also the latest liveried TGV Lyria. Decisions decisions…! Have I missed your Thunerseebahn layout on here? Best regards, Jeremy
  14. Love it Keith! Re10/10 with a nice long freight meandering around your superbly landscaped layout - always a pleasure to see! Best regards, Jeremy
  15. Hi, The platform lights really look the part and they add just enough light to be to scale too. Very nice indeed! Look forward to some “night time” running shots! Best regards, Jeremy
  16. Hi, I picked up this Fleischmann wagon for £20 off eBay a couple of weeks ago and really pleased with it and great value too! I may respray the container sometime in the future and rebrand it. Best regards, Jeremy
  17. Thanks Keith. I’ve rushed apertures in the past and made a mess of them having to then correct uneven openings by filing bits of plastic away to get it square. This time I really took my time and it’s really paid off. Best regards, Jeremy
  18. One side finished now and the first part of the back support added. Next, I’ll start on the other side and then move to the front sections which I feel is going to be tricky. Best regards, Jeremy.
  19. Afternoon all, I’ve popped the postal van to one side for the time being and have decided to make some progress on the next building for the layout. Spent a few hours last night and this morning measuring up and cutting out the first side, including all the windows which seem to take forever but I’m happy with the result so far. Just need to cut out the aperture for the glazed windows to the bottom right hand corner. I’m using 1mm thick plastic sheet for this one. Here is the first side and then a screenshot from Google earth of the real building. Best regards, Jeremy
  20. Morning, As already mentioned above, here are the Arnold BLS Re4/4 from the catalogue. Best regards, Jeremy
  21. Nice selection there. The Re485 looks like a slightly better detailed model than the Fleischmann offering with the non moulded hand rails etc. Theres a cargo re482 as well which looks tempting.
  22. Morning all, Just seen a video reel on Lemke’s Facebook page showing the Hobbytrain EP’s of the Stadler KISS. As I mentioned in a previous post, this model seemed to have gone quiet but clearly still on the cards. Best regards, Jeremy
  23. I’d go for one of these if it were to be produced in N.
  24. Agree there’s quite a few gaps in the market for new models, especially in N gauge. Perhaps there is room for a new company to enter the market with some units and shunters as the demand is clearly there. The bronze Gotthardo set and a Giruno would be a good starting point as they would prove popular in N. Best regards, Jeremy
