  1. Afternoon all, Latest item/ of rolling stock to arrive at Gelternau is this Kato Re460 in the Swiss post livery which it carried late 90’s/early 2000’s. Also, had this one a month or two now, this Fleischmann Zurich S-Bahn set. Runs beautifully and looks great! Best regards, Jeremy
  2. Nice photo Gordon. Where would the loco changeover have taken place on this service? Assume the Re4/4 would not have taken the service from Paris.
  3. Ah yes, I meant to write “iv”. One thing I have noticed since posting was that the cab door handrails seem to be moulded rather than seperately fitted. The front cab hand rail seems to be a seperately fitted item so it’s a shame they haven’t done the others as seperately fitted too. I think I’ll be getting at least one although I’d like all 4 of them! Might get into trouble with senior management if I get all 4! 😂 Best regards, Jeremy
  4. Evening all, Photos have appeared of the Hobbytrain Re4/4 vi painted samples and I have to say, these look absolutely stunning. Photos below from the Lemke Facebook page today. Best regards, Jeremy
  5. Hi Gordon, I’ve always enjoyed seeing photos of your layout. The catenary portals look really effective. I haven’t had experience of the N Train ones and was thinking of adding one or two to my layout. I might look into the Rhb ones. Best regards, Jeremy
  6. Sensational modelling! Unbelievably realistic. Best regards, Jeremy
  7. Thanks Dave! It’s been a bit fiddly to put together so far. I’ve learnt a fair bit so hopefully I can apply this to the next one. Just need to finish off with the contact wire beams and tensioners and then I can move on to the next one. Will paint and weather both gantries at the same time. Best regards, Jeremy
  8. Decided to finish off those bits this evening. Next bit to do will be the contact wire beams. Best regards, Jeremy
  9. Good evening all, I decided to spend a bit of time on the gantry today and have made some more progress. The little lamp that sits on the tallest upright has been added. This was made using a small piece of channel plastic strip and then the ends made using two small bits of flat plastic strip and sanded flush. I’ve also completed the top beams filling in the gaps with small bits of plastic strip so it looks something a bit like this… So here is the model, still lots to do, not my best bit of scratch building but I hope it will be a good learning curve for the next one. It is starting to feel more solid now too. Best regards, Jeremy
  10. Hi, How do we pre-order a 50 with P4 wheelsets? There doesn’t seem to be the facility to do this on your website. Many thanks for your help in advance. Best regards, Jeremy
  11. Not sure how I’ve missed this one for so many months. Looking good so far! The best class 50 out there (in any scale) currently is the CJM version of which I have 3 examples. It’s the pinnacle of the most realistic looking 50. Lots to live up to Accurascale! Early photos of the Accurascale version are looking good but it’s the front end and cab windows that 00 gauge manufacturers have struggled with in the past so far. Can’t wait to see the final versions emerge…
  12. Afternoon all, Making very slow progress on the first catenary gantry but here is the latest photo of it. I now need to add all those fiddly detailing parts……now where is that swear box?! Best regards, Jeremy
  13. Hi! Many thanks for your comments. It’s all coming along at snails pace but hopefully will get there one day! The seagulls can be relaxing except when they are making a noise in the early hours of the morning and/or have crapped all over our cars! Look forward to seeing your layout progress. Best regards, Jeremy
  14. That looks impressive and really nicely built. Best regards, Jeremy
  15. Evening all, I’ve started scratch building my first portal. It’s going to be in plastic but once finished, I think it will be a very sturdy structure. The contact arms will of course be in brass. Most of the other portals will be completely in brass. This is the type of portal I’m trying to recreate, albeit my version will be spanning four tracks. Here are a couple of initial shots of it blue tacked on the layout. There are still lots of parts to add before it’s finished but hopefully I’ve got the height right. Any comments on this most welcome. Best regards, Jeremy
  16. Hi Dave, Many thanks for your comments, especially about the wires. I'm still on the fence on this one but I am gradually leaning towards not having the wires. Having said that, and like you say, its best leaving any wires till last in any case so as not to damage them during the layout construction. On the subject of track, I have gone for Peco code 55 on the scenic section. Like you, I tried code 40 rail but the flanges fowl the sleepers. My initial plan was to scratchbuild the entire track work using 2mm association track and then narrowing the rails through the crossovers so that I did not have to re-wheel all my stock but the flange issue put this to bed quite quickly. I think if I extend the layout, I'll use copper clad sleepers and code 55 rail from C&L finescale. Best regards, Jeremy
  17. Hi Dave, The layout is looking fabulous and I love the intercity liveried stock that you are running. I think the extension will add a nice contrast to your more built up city scene, lol forward to seeing the plan and the extension progress. Will this be on the other side of the layout or to one side? Best regards, Jeremy
  18. Hi Peter, Many thanks for your comments and photos. Your Einigen project looks very nice indeed. I’m certainly leaning more towards just having the masts and it will certainly save a lot of unnecessary additional work. Yes, I’m pleased with footbridge too! I’ve added some additional scratch build details to finish it off so hopefully it will look the part once painted/weathered etc. Best regards, Jeremy
  19. Evening all, I’ve finally found the time to put together a short video update showing a bit more progress on the layout. Includes my latest Swiss purchase! Hope you all enjoy! Best regards, Jeremy
  20. Hi Andrew, Your layout idea is really good. My current layout is a four track mainline through a Swiss industrial scene allowing me to run scale length trains, a bit of a “watch the trains go by” layout. So I’d say go for it! Love the new purchases by the way. I have 3 bt coaches however I really wished Fleischmann would stop moulding the front end pipes using a semi-circle piece of plastic for each one. It doesn’t look great. Look forward to seeing the layout! Best regards, Jeremy
  21. Loving the pictures Andy! Always a pleasure to see! Best regards, Jeremy
  22. Hi David, Thank you for your comments. I think there could be a variety of different gantries possible for the layout which would certainly add some interest, and definitely in terms of photographing the layout. I’m going to work on the gantry next week and see how I get on. I’ve been watching a few more cab rides which are excellent for getting some close up front on screen shots of the different styles. The signal box has come out well. It’s the first time I’ve weathered a building and like you say, it takes time to build up the layers. I think it needs a very thin dirty wash now just to finish off the lower section. I’ll do another video soon on the gantry. Have a good weekend and hope all is well with you and the family. Best regards, Jeremy
  23. Evening all, Here is my latest video update including some thoughts on overhead catenary. I'd welcome your thoughts on my future experiment. Best regards, Jeremy
  24. Morning all, Latest photo on the Lemke Facebook page of the new Re4/4 iv in N. Looks really good so far with an abundance of separately fitted parts. Might have to order all 3 variants! Best regards, Jeremy
  25. No rules broken really! That’s a great collection!
