Glad to see no more valve gear failures hope it continues, then perhaps I will re purchase! BUT the derailing problem is annoying, it seems to indicate that perhaps a little more testing before releasing them for sale would have been beneficial, The end user should not have the additional chore of fault fixing to obtain the expected performance

I did not think that with the new arrivals I would have to post what follows>>>> I apologise if this brings doom & gloom to the thread I received a Yeo today managed to unbox it this evening to give it a test run, at first all seemed well, but after a few minutes it began to run jerkily and what is shown in the attached photos had occured. I really do hope that this is a one off or at least rare occurance, I really like this model and after the problems with my previous batch ones I am more than a little disappointed needless to say it will be returned to supplier.

My peronal way of purchasing new releases is to wait until the item is avaiable and then buy it! Many retailers send email info these days when deliveries are received , I have never preordered anything over many years of buying model railways and have never 'missed out' on anything

My mention of pre used has nothing to do with the actual preused category itself ( I have used it several times with an approx. 25% dissatisfaction rate which was perfectly well sorted out to my satisfaction ) My point is they have a lot of it for example over 250 pre used 00 Steam locos across Hornby & Bachmann, many other categories show high levels of S/H stock take a look at Bemo & Roco as an example. There is a lot of capital obviously tied up waiting for the items to eventually sell, I have no problems with Hattons having been a customer since the 60s and do order frequently but never pre order just buy as and when they show stock is available, in fact they had another order from me just last week

Just as an aside to all this I do note that Hattons Pre Owned stock does seem to be rather on the high side, .

Must admit I am Digitally biased, have been digital since '97, Minitrains are fine but a little difficult to digitase sizewise ( and I have had to return 2 or 3 locos for exchange due to problems)

Totally agree, for that reason I have got 2 on order...………. the problems with the first batch will hopefully have disappeared. I still Rate the MW as the best (potentially) RTR 009 loco produced so far ( Bachmann Baldwin a close 2nd).

I had THREE in batch one! all failed ( valve gear) no financial loss though well handled by the retailer, I await the delivery hopefully in the next few day!

First Mentioned above are reported to be due to arrive in Denmark early next week ( ie w/c 2-12-18) this is according to information received by a retailer from Heljan This of course does not mean they will be instantly available to purchase! Obviously it takes time to sort, pack and distribute to the retailers.

Well my red one seems OK up to now it was joined a couple of days ago by a Red/Cream one ( Both sound on board) I have had more than I can remember of these locos over many years ( Liliput, Stangl, LGB) never had a rod or crank fall off yet! They appear to be selling well Gaugemaster only have one variant showing as in stock, some of the German retailers appear to have sold out of some variants If anyone is looking for stockists with UK stock Arcadia Rail has a couple left

On a previous layout my Heljan 2 - 6 - 2s would haul 4 Peco bogie coaches up 1 in 25 11 radius curved inclines The locos weighed 138 grammes as a comparison the Bachmann Baldwin weighs around 60 grammes

Bought a couple more Heljan Metropolitans on Friday 1-30PM delivered by YODEL! at 10.00 Saturday My previous Metropolitans were around £109, so at £64 for these each I know it makes sense

There are a few on eBay some at reasonable prices, but perhaps not what you desire!
