  1. I've just ordered this one, along with a previous one that was also of interest. They look like excellent publications with valuable detail. I actually came across this thread whilst trying to look up whether the Farish MK1 BG in Parcels livery (product no. 370-044) depicting NEA 92233 with the missing the black painted panels ('fake windows') on the doors without actual windows was accurate. If indeed incorrect, hopefully it will be corrected on the next Farish release (product no. 370-044A). I have not seen many, if any, photos or videos of them in this livery without this feature.
  2. I live abroad at the moment, but some day in the not too distant future I hope to move home to the north east and also to join a club in or around Darlington/Stockton. Good to know there are clubs in existence.
  3. I just finally ordered a red one without gangway ends. I don't know why I kidded myself for months that I could resist one of these eventually!
  4. I quite fancy 58003 in Railfreight Red stripe livery. I would be a nice reminder of my very first Hornby set as a kid, if nothing else - the old 'Midnight Freight'.
  5. I managed to fly on a scheduled Mi-8 helicopter service in Russia this summer. It was a 7-sector flight from Salekhard to Nadym with stops at Salemal, Panayevsk, Yar-Sale (first photo, where it took on fuel), Kutopyugan, Nyda and Nori.
  6. Out of interest, would any of these models be compatible with buses that were operated by Darlington Transport Corporation? I know they had single deck Fleetlines until their demise in the mid-late 1990s, but I also know dome double deck models were operated at certain times too.

    N gauge Class 50

Did anyone get any photos of the 50149 sample model at TINGS that they are able to share?
  8. I'm hoping they'll finally sort these issues with 50149, but I haven't seen any decent enough photos from TINGS to make a judgement yet.
  9. I couldn't help noticing from peoples' photos from the Farish stand at TINGS (and on the Bachmann website) is that a blue/grey MK2A BSO (374-680B) has been announced and is due in Jan/Feb, yet still no TSOs.
  10. I couldn't agree more. Imagine entering the N gauge hobby in the last four years and simply wanting a typical rake of blue/grey MK1s or MK2As.
  11. Wonderful layout and some locos I remember well from those times, as a Darlington lad.
  12. Introducing a 'staple' like the MK2B/C would be quite something. A more realistic approach than Farish in terms of availability/frequency of release of their MK1/MK2A TSOs that a lot of people need and can't get hold of would be welcome though. Whilst blue/grey would be the real 'staple', other liveries that spring to mind for my era would be InterCity (original lettering), INTERCITY (swallow), INTERCITY charter (white roof), NSE and Regional Railways - including the odd one or two that were painted to the InterCity livery template and always stood out in a regular RR rake.
  13. This was certainly a surprise and as much as I told myself to resist a Dapol one if ever released, I think I will take the plunge on a RevolutioN one. I am happy to continue supporting RevolutioN given the quality they are bringing to our hobby. I like both the original Yeoman and ARC versions, but 59001 or 002 in original Yeoman livery is probably going to be my choice.
  14. These were Provincial livery, although some may have been de-branded from Trans-Pennine. These pre-dated the Regional Railways livery, as the lower body colour was the same shade of beige used on InterCity, rather than the silver/grey colour used when they went into Regional Railways branding.
  15. I have just ordered four pairs of these. Excellent choice of wagon in terms of eras and versatility.

    N gauge Class 50

I only have the one 50 but I agree with you about the running. I have about a dozen Farish 47s and they are prone to pickup issues.
  17. So who is going to be snapping up those public toilets? Form an orderly queue!
  18. I used to go to C & G Models in the 90s. If I remember correctly, Cliff was the chap that was usually working there. Nice fella. Now I'm back in the hobby (N rather than OO now), Monk Bar is my retailer of choice. Great shop and nice bunch of guys. Combining a few model purchases with the many real ale pubs in York, it makes for a fine day out.
  19. I've ordered every version except the one with Mainline branding and current hazard flashes, as that one is just a bit too modern for my era. Really looking forward to these.
  20. I'm with you on this. I have a rake of RevolutioN early KFAs and also have some C-Rail FSAs on order for an early 90s rake. There just aren't many good quality standard 20ft and 40ft containers suitable for this period.
  21. Great to see this break cover already. I'll certainly be taking an olive green and a 'Dutch' version.
  22. Here is an interesting one if you fancy a Class 08 in the middle of your freight train: 1981-04-09 37079, 08860 Eaglescliffe by John Carter, on Flickr
  23. I'd like to see them do a MK3 in the later RTC livery, as well as a re-run of the early RTC red/blue they released a few years ago - minus the lettering error this time around.
  24. I remember seeing 47712 in full ScotRail livery heading south through Darlington on a rake of InterCity MK2 aircon stock somewhere between 1989 and 1991. Whether this was it's transfer south, I don't know. It definitely operated Waterloo-Exeter services after repainting into the then new Parcels red/grey livery, with NSE flashes.
  25. I'll throw in a guess. Class 305 EMU, with a nice number of livery options.
