  1. Hi Paul, finally got back on now! Couldn't access your blog till this afternoon, the hoppers looking top all the little extras two very nice.

The brake wheels yes i noticed on his O Gauge wagon that they were infact wrong and should indeed be like a press stud! But its better having these fitted than none atall and they have the two little handles sticking out so thats good.

Looking forward to the vac cylinders & plate bogies been fitted, the bogies i have here from roxey for my resin jobbys are nice and neat thou do lack any sort of nem coupling attachment which is disapointing and will make it hard work for me! Something you'd expect with them when paying like £8.00 for a set of bogies!:(

    Thanks.

  2. Good Afternoon Paul, the wagon looks amazing ruddy good job SIR! I love those end plates and the neatness of all the side strengtheners two, a very good looking etched kit.

The way you've done the vac piping is the same technique i've used on my resin ones and think they look best doing it this way, the 5 amp wire giving it that perfect ribbed look which is a huge feature on any vac braked wagons.

Seems a shame to undercoat and paint the hopper now as brass built loco's and wagons do have that display appeal to them this one been no different i've sat and admired your closeup pics for a while now and thought wow if only i could make something this good and neat!

Keep up the good work and I can't wait for the next update on this beauty:)

    Many Thanks

    Rich

  3. Good Evening buddy,

Nice update again shes coming on a treat now, the bogie issue yes could see there been a problem there as thats whats stopped me making my other resin kits here! Gota file or remove the underside before puting it together or it will be harder to do then.

The holes I see were your coming from there as like you say you want to build the un fitted wagon and its a summers hopper so why hes done them with holes pre drilled is a mystery?

On the vac pipe subject i found it orkward doing my 1st hopper even in resin as i didn't have drill piece long enough to go all the way thru so struggled and didn't help myself by using one hole piece of brass wire instead of using two and joining them in the middle of the hopper needless to say it took me an hour or so to do it with the brass pipe already bent/angled at one end ready to go under the cylinder.

  4. At £36 a kit that would be a very expensive train to recreate Michael!More work done today Rich, internal dividers now in place.Paul.

    Hi Paul,

Sounds good progressing well chap:) luckilly i'm not modelling the john summers ore hoppers its the Tunstead run i'm doing Michael with resin and etched hoppers which yes had a lot of wagons in tow but i saw it once at Hazel Grove with just seven wagons and two 37's! So could model that one but i'll build them up over time, i'll probably have a decent rake before those rtr ones are even going in to production! lol

  5. Looking good chap, good luck with the soldering and more work needed hay? This isn't good is it atleast Dave is working with you and advising but seems to me like this is gona be an on going problem as the new batch will be exactly the same!

Atleast anyone whos thinking of having a go will be more the wiser after seeing your fots and reading the details on the faults the kit comes with!

Wonder if this is a good time to ring Dave up and go thru this lot before the ICI version goes for production as to avoid having to do all the extra work needed!

Looking forward to more pics anyway.

    Rich.

  6. Hi Paul,

Yes with you on the looking at it stage always good to plan ahead before starting any kit especially with wagons like these the resin ones i've done take a bit of eyeing up from side on level as if you try and glue the hopper on straight to the body guaranteed one end will be wonky bit of playing about and judging is always the key rather than just going for it head on!:)

Looking forward to more pics anyway.

    Cheers Rich
