  1. Gah! I have driven three full-sized steam locos - 5322 and 3650 at Didcot, and Linda at Portmadoc. Now the manufacturers are bringing out Linda and 5322 AT THE SAME TIME!!!!! Aargh!

So what are you complaining about ... ? 😄

  2. My father has just delivered dome new wooden platform sections for me to use on Aberystwyth Mark 2f. Turned out one of them was cut from the old baseboards of Aberystwyth Mk1 (from 30 years ago) and another was a reprofiled one from an earlier version of his layout - nice to keep the history going!

  3. Arrived at work this morning - and bumped into Kathy Millatt in reception!

  4. Only I could manage to short out a controller by mis-installing the short circuit protection!

Fixed and working now, apart from the electrical connection to the fiddle yard.

  5. Point motor #48 fitted and wired up today. Only the three-way point to wire up now.

  6. This weekend's objective achieved. Fiddle yard points now computer controlled (via MERG CBUS) and computer-based analogue controller wired in.

  7. Phew - that's a relief! For one moment I thought Steve Flint had died...

  8. Looks like this is the same forum layout they introduced on NGRM a few months ago that deterred me from going on it after that!

  9. Just had my first proper running session on 'Aberystwyth' since rebuilding started. Oh dear. Stern Steve would not have been pleased!

Unforeseen relativistic effects from the modelling black hole? You should publish a paper on that!

  16. Excellent weekend - good day operating "The Seaside Layout" at Tadworth yesterday, excellent 9 o'clock service this morning and a decently busy afternoon volunteering at Cholsey station. Only downside to the weekend was Reigate chip shop being shut last night!

Ah, sunny Tadworth. Original home of SWMBO and interesting little Station Building on the Bridge. Nice church too.

  17. Finally solved a nasty short circuit that cropped up on The Seaside Layout. For a 15" x 10" layout, it's remarkable how it can keep me entertained!

That's one sort of "entertainment" many of us would prefer not to encounter - and I say this as somebody who enjoys working with things electrical / electronic.

Once is an accident, twice is just careless. Do you need a laccy band to hold your glasses on?
