  1. Hello mdvle Although this is 'off topic' for the Oxford thread, I felt it appropriate to make a brief statement that The 00 Poll Team does its best to 'combine' similar items where we believe it would be reasonable for a maker to produce variants. Although Class 116 was announced (Kernow), that didn't happen - so it was back in The Poll for 2019. One of the Railbuses failed to appear, so that was re-listed. The D16/3 Claud Hamilton with Decorative Valance was listed separately as we felt the tooling was significantly different. Same goes for B16s. There are other examples but this should suffice for now. If there are questions, we can take them up on our thread: Results - The 00 Wishlist Poll 2019. Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  2. Hello everyone Congratulations to Oxford on these announcements...we wish them well with the projects and hope they are commercially successful. Below is how the items fared in The 00 Wishlist Poll 2019: J26: We listed this previously as a combination with the J27. Tank Wagon: We're not sure what type this is at the moment...we'll get back in due course. (Edit 12.10 21.01.20 - It seems that this is not a 'new tooling' as is a new livery of the existing models.) GER Van: This particular item was listed individually many years ago but we had to 'subsume it' into the broader/generic listing of GER Wagons, Vans & Brake Vans. It is certainly a very useful vehicle and looks 'a tad different' to other 4-wheel vans. Crane: Not in The Poll. We do list a handful, but the subject is so vast that a Poll could be run just for cranes! Pilchard: Not in The Poll. Another area where we have struggled to shoe-horn items in over the years; the genre is vast! Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)

  4. Hello Charles Agreed. I sincerely hope Hornby has 'made provision' for the BR versions as that gives them so much potential. Given that they have made small detail tooling changes on locos and rolling stock recently - such as the Bulleid sides - I look forward to the future of these coaches. The BR versions have formed part of my 'master plan' and were written into my 'carriage workings' long ago...I'm all set to go! (As an aside, the A2/2, A2/3 and 60700 were also 'written in' long ago as I am fortunate to have a layout that is generic in format and can 'purport to be' WR, SR. LMR or ER depending on what stock I run.) Brian (speaking personally)
  5. Hello Compound 2632 It was a 'slip of the finger'. I corrected it in the cut and paste copy that I sent to the Hornby thread, but forgot to correct this one! Now done. Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  6. Hello everyone Many congratulations to Hornby on the 2020 announcements today! Excellent news for many! This is how the new tooling items fared in The 00 Wishlist Poll 2019 Results... Top 50 374 votes - BR Std Class 2 2-6-0 (78xxx). Overall position 3rd. 287 votes - LNER Hush Hush. Overall position 10th. High Polling 186 votes - BR Diag.24 Restaurant Buffet (RB) 182 votes - APT-P 182 votes - W1 60700 149 votes - A2/3 Middle Polling 116 votes - A2/2. (This score places it nicely above the overall halfway mark.) Low Polling 86 votes - Coronation Scot Coaches. (These were only just in Low Polling. We believe they have much potential for the BR modeller in the future if Hornby has made sensible provisions.) As something of a notable aside, we recently ran The Quirky Poll. Rocket was overall top-voted item there. Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)

  8. Hello S&CR The 00 Poll Team has been running The Wishlist Poll in its (generally consistent) current style since 2012. Prior to that, we had some experience with some of us contributing to what was MREmag in 2010 and 2011 where for convenience sake - not 'grandeur' - we called ourselves The Loco Team. The results of what we did there and subsequently have remained reasonably consistent over the years, with the greater majority of made items having been in the upper echelons. We have never claimed that models are made directly because of The Poll results as we have no proof. Even prior to The Loco Team, some of us were involved with the small team that ran the original Poll. That Poll wasn't as widely publicised as the current Poll and didn't draw quite as many voters, but consistency of results across those years can be detected with ease. We have always been open to how we might attract a more 'random' or 'less self-selective audience' but no-one has yet come up with a solid, predictable formula. The Poll is not only for 'voting'...it has an underlying policy of 'education' and placing items in as logical a presentation context and accuracy of terminology as is possible. Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  9. Hello Iain I'm not sure if this helps or hinders, but it may be worth looking at. Is there any reason why the 'X' crossover at each end is set so far apart? If the Up and Down run at 'normal spacing', then you would save a few inches at each end...and that may equate to fitting an extra coach into the road. All the best with this fascinating project...I'm so jealous. Brian
  10. Hello Bernard I'll put that on the agenda. Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  11. Hello Mike We (and Phil/Andy) didn't apply any specific rules as this was 'just a bit of Christmas fun' and developed from a 'light-hearted chat' that Phil and I had at a show in November. When you start looking, it's amazing just how many 'quirkies' there are out there...we only skimmed the surface this year. As noted earlier, the definitions of 'quirky' and 'mainstream' are open to conjecture dependent on viewpoint. It will be interesting to see if any of the items do get made. I (personally) would certainly buy Ivor the Engine! Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  12. Hello 34C Could you remind me of the item please? Brian
  13. Hello everyone Results - The Quirky Poll 2019Results - The Quirky Poll 2019.pdf Many thanks to all who took part as well as to Andy York and Phil Parker - much appreciated! Your comments have been noted and will be taken on board for any future Quirky Poll. We hope you find the results interesting. Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  14. Hello everyone Firstly, Happy New Year to you all! Thanks to all who voted. I hope to have The Results (in 'Poll Team style') for you here later today. Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  15. Hello Ian You took the words right out of my mouth! Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  16. Hello everyone Please don't forget that voting closes at 21.00 tonight. Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  17. Hello David Has been put on the agenda. Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  18. Hello Compound2632 Someone else has suggested that earlier on, so it's 'on the agenda' already. Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  19. Hello Hroth The B17/5s are more likely to find their way into 'the main Poll'. However, they haven't done so yet as we are running beyond 'maximum permitted load' in the LNER Locos category and the class has seldom been requested. Maybe one day. Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  20. Hello Dave As noted by Phil towards the start, there was a hiccup with the list. We were going to list the Kitson-Still and Sentinel Gyro, but have held them over with some other items; if this year goes well - and people enjoy it - then we will consider another Quirky Poll for 2020. Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  21. Hello Joseph and everyone As noted, whilst 'serious' in that we expect respondents to vote for what they would realistically wish to buy if a model were ever made, this Poll is 'a little bit of Christmas fun' and semantics shouldn't cloud your enjoyment. Take if for what it is and see what the results say on 1 January. All the best for Christmas Day to you all! Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  22. Hello Ben Alder Drummond's Bug has been in 'the main Poll' since 2018 where it was Middle Polling. It moved up to High Polling in 2019. Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  23. Hello Mark The definitions of 'mainstream' and 'quirky' will always be a tad blurred but our aim here was to list just some items that would probably never find a place in 'the main Poll'. Surprisingly. Rocket is seldom if ever suggested to The Poll Team. I searched the results of 2019's Category 21 and couldn't find a single mention. I do, however, recall that a gentleman emailed The Team requesting it as he had seen our Press Release via the Railway Museum. I got the impression from the email that he wasn't what might loosely be called 'a mainstream modeller' but more someone who liked early railway history and the place Rocket occupies in that. There are many strands to this vast hobby of ours! It will be interesting to see what votes the loco garners in this Poll. Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  24. Hello Truffy Those items are in 'the main Poll'. The Hush Hush was in The Top 50 and the Class 70 was High Polling. Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  25. Hello again Tom Very many thanks for the helpful links - much appreciated. I will be BR Crimson. Brian
