  1. Hello Tony I can't specifically answer your question, but the B16/1 was in The Top 50 of The 00 Wishlist Poll 2022, with the B16/2 and B16/3 in High Polling. All three have consistently climbed up - slowly - since 2016, with the B16/1 always being higher than B16/2 and B16/3 (which we generally list as 'combined'). Brian (on behalf of Th 00 Poll Team)
  2. Hello everyone Talk of Bristol Airport has just brought back a memory of a time I was there observing planes when a Dreamliner was (I think) being tested.... The plane landed, exited the runway and was taxiing very slowly towards the terminal. As this was a busy summer's day, the Tower was keen for him speed up a little. I forget the exact words but it was something like: (Callsign), do you have a second gear on that aircraft by any chance? Brian
  3. Hello Phil The aim of The Poll is to enable modellers and collectors to let the makers know which models they would realistically buy if made at some point in the future. The Poll only attracts a small number of overall potential voters compared to how many actually buy models. All we can hope - as we have no actual evidence - is that The Poll ratings concur with what makers are hearing on social media and in person at shows etc. We won't ask them and they won't tell us as that is 'commercially sensitive' information to them. Since publication of the 2022 Results, we have seen announced: 4 - Top 50 4 - High Polling 9 - Middle Polling (five of which are above the half way mark) 1 - Low Polling So, bearing in mind that The Poll could list 30,000+ items, it seems to be in the right area. Brian
  4. Hello NHY 581 It's not in the lower book either. On page 88 therein, Mike Arlett writes that Norman Lockett's negative No.528 was taken in 1939 but the very next one (529) was not taken until 1946. Brian
  5. Hello everyone Many congratulations to Rapido on this announcement and we wish them every success with the project. The loco has been in The Top 50 of The 00 Wishlist Poll since 2014. Here's how it has fared in more detail (but note that The Poll didn't run in 2017, 2020 or 2021)... 2014 - 40th 2015 - 30th 2016 - 6th 2018 - 3rd 2019 - Top overall 2022 - 4th Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)

  7. Hello Chuffer Davies Dapol are bringing out Mainline & City Stock 'Toplight' coaches and have loosely noted that they will progress into corridor stock. That 'range' will no doubt be 'selectively compressed' as there were so many diagrams and many changes over the years. However, with careful planning, it should be possible to supply most modeller needs. Brian
  8. Hello Glenn I can understand why Bachmann has made the Bulleid Diag.2019 Corridor Third (Second later) but it has to be said that there were only five of them, whereas we still await the (arguably) essential Diag.2406 Corridor Brake Composite, of which there were 40 examples. Hornby has made a Maunsell Restaurant Composite Open (RCO) but not the 'prototypically required' pairing of the Diag.2659 Kitchen Buffet Car. I wonder how many unsuspecting modellers have been lulled into running the RCO with the existing Restaurant First (RF)? The Bulleid Tavern Cars are now Top 50 in The Poll. Tony has already mentioned the Hornby Gresley Buffet Car. That was accompanied in 2004 by the BCK, FK, TK and Sleeper First - look at all that First Class! The Gresley 61ft 6in General Service Stock is High Polling but we do include all the relevant diagrams there! The Triplet Articulated Restaurant Set is only a handful of votes behind. Brian Brian
  9. Hello Tony & everyone Firstly, an apology to anyone who may have seen my earlier post on this subject where I messed up the location of the PDF and had to delete the post! I have attached Results Extracts from The 00 Wishlist Poll 2022 for PCCS and NPCCS which we believe show up the major gaps for RTR. Ellis Clark Trains has since announced correct 8-car GN Quad Art sets and Dapol has announced a 59ft 6in GWR Autocoach. 10. It's all very hard work but amazing how you are bringing it all together!👍 Brian
  11. Presumably, that is a Brush Type 2 you are using.🙂 Brian
  12. Hello again Tony and everyone Looking at notes in The 00 Wishlist Poll Guide 2019, I see that we wrote that one was observed at Worcester Shrub Hill in May 1962 and another at Plymouth in 1963. I have seen the photo of the latter...but can't recall where at present! Brian
  13. Hello Tony Note to all: Please note that I have attached below a photo from a book. I was often in touch with the photographer, the late Terry Gough, and I am sure he would be happy for it to be shown here - but please respect the copyright. An interesting photo! Brian
  14. Hello everyone Congratulations to Ben and the team on this announcement. We wish them every success with the project. Although the vehicle was Low Polling in The 00 Wishlist Poll 2022, it has to be said that most 'modern era air-braked' freight stock shares that position - we can't offer any 'evidence' as to why, but it has always been that way. Crucially - it hasn't stopped makers making plenty of vehicles.🙂 Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  15. Hello Combe Martin Diag.O57 doesn't have sloping tank but does have ladder and filler one end. Brian
  16. Hello everyone Congratulations to Bachmann on the announcement of the 3 CEP. Within The 00 Wishlist Poll 2022, we listed: Class 411 3 CEP & 4 CEP Refurbished and that came in Middle Polling. I have made a note on the 2024 Draft to discuss what we list for Class 411 that year. Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  17. Hello everyone Many congratulations to Graham 'Muzz' and EFE on the announcement of the LSWR Vans. We listed both the Low and High Roof types separately in The 00 Wishlist Poll 2022 for the first time. They both came in towards the top end of the Middle Polling segment with only one vote between them. Those votes placed them in the top half of The Poll overall. We wish Graham every success with the project and look forward to seeing more vans from the tooling suite in the future. Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  18. Agreed! I don't think I am breaching any confidences, but our submitted paper did contain the word 'filth' on a number of occasions.🙂 Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  19. Hello everyone A factor to be considered which I don't think has come up so far is that it is not only a case of having a reasonable number of Milk Tank Wagons of any diagram, but finding one which can have as many accurate liveries applied as possible. Yes, we have all seen liveries 'slapped on' inaccurate vehicles but - hopefully - those days are gone. Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  20. Hello Combe Martin I omitted to say in earlier postings that The 00 Poll Team was fortunate in being able to 'co-opt' Karhedron for the milk deliberations we had. Our late colleague, Glen Woods, passed much of his milk research to Matt who was already a proficient milk researcher in his own right. In model form, we are unlikely to see every variant of Horse Box, Banana Van, GWR Siphon, CCT, Fish Van etc and we can say without doubt that - like many railway subjects - 'milk' is fraught with difficulty! But we do believe that there are reasonable number of contenders for commercial models. Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  21. Hello Combe Martin & Karhedron Diag.1994 was built in numerous 'Lots' between 1931 and 1946 - some as few as one, two or three vehicles. David Jenkinson (in his LMS Coaching Stock book) states that: "There also appear to have been several changes of drawing...but we cannot say how significant these were". I can't recall offhand - and Karhedron will correct me please - but I think the Dapol 0 gauge Milk Tank Wagon is fairly close to Diag.1994. If so, and they have drawings etc, then maybe they might convert to 00 in due course? Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  22. Hello CM I can save you some time - The 00 Poll Team did that as part of the paper that was submitted. I can't repeat it here (as we noted to the maker that we were sending it to them only) but many of the 6-wheel diagrams do have more than 10 examples. In summary though (and that can be gleaned from published sources open to all)... If we ignore the circa 180 Milk Tank Wagons built in BR days, then the various companies had: GWR - 236 SR - 56 LMS - 170 (but 128 of those were from just Diag.1994) ER - 42 (but only one diagram had more than 10 examples built) For Milk Tank Trucks it was: GWR - 34 SR - 7 LMS -13 ER - 9 Note that all figures are plus or minus a small amount as we can't account for every minor variant without massively detailed research. It is fairly clear that the ER is the most likely to miss out. Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
  23. Hello Rob Below is how milk fared in the Mini-Poll for Fruit, Fish, Milk & Meat All the 'tank' types were High Polling amongst the 23 voters. I can't recall why we only listed these types though. Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team) High Polling 17 Milk Tank Wagon – 6-wheel, twin tank (Diag.O41 of 1935 & Diag.O50 of 1940) 14 Milk Tank Wagon – 6-wheel, ladders/filler at one end (eg Diags.O57 of 1946 & O60 of 1950) 13 Milk Tank Truck – 6-wheel with Dyson Milk Road Trailer Load (eg Diags.O37, O48, O49, 1932-47) 13 Fruit Van – Fruit C, 22ft long (Diag.Y9 of 1937)
  24. Hello Rich Agreed. I think Glen was a tad disappointed with the outcome. In Ramsay's Catalogue, Pat Hamond notes "... a more accurate GWR chassis" - not an 'accurate' one per se! A wide open goal still remains! Brian
  25. Hello Jason Hornby re-tooled the chassis for 2007 and our late - and much missed - Poll Team colleague and 'milk aficionado', Glen Woods, was involved with that. Brian (on behalf of The 00 Poll Team)
