At £1200 which is what I paid for it 15 months ago I don’t mind doing a bit of work now and again now I have the confidence to do bits myselfother than the performance and cosmetic bits I’ve done on it it’s only really been the wheel bearings (x2), rear spring and belt I’ve had to fix due to failure, the DPF swap was because the previous owner had it removed
the end of the day it’s 15 years old with 165k miles on the clock, I’m just running it until it dies, could be tomorrow, could be another 3 years, when it dies I take the likes of the 18s, side skirts, spoiler off and sell them on
Best way to run a car in my opinion, no big worries about trade in value or big repayments.

The more I look at the new Minis, the more I realise what overrated crap they are!
Watched one in a banger race at Yarmouth a couple of weeks ago.
I've no idea how, but when it was pushed sideways, or the driver overcooked it, the rear wheels folded flat under the car. I thought it was finished at that point but somehow restoring forward motion they came back upright and continued! This happened several times, something I've never seen before.

There was one, I think, running on the NSMEE track at Ruddington a couple of weeks ago, just doubting my memory to be honest.
Definitely a 37 running because it looked more like a scale model than the bigger class 47.
Maybe they can point you in the right direction?

I've had two texts from Severn Trent asking us not to use hoses, pressure washers and the like.
Me too, on both phones!

Don’t say that, our daughter her sisters in law and four kids (or was it five, I lost count) are coming down from Norfolk to Cornwall tomorrow.
I did warn the, it’ll be a slow journey.
I'm only going from Norfolk to the east Midlands, what I'm finding incredible is the almost total lack of coordinated information.
Network rail app merely gives a bland 'services may be disrupted' otherwise it shows the normal service pattern in journey planners.
It seems the TOCs may have briefed their local newspapers but, as far as I can find, nothing even to their front line staff!
If those of us inside the industry can't easily find out what's going on, how the hell are mere passengers supposed to cope?

Just popped into Chichester for some shopping and still amazed to see old people dressed in full coat, overcoats and hats Sunday Best!!! How do they do it?
Not to mention younger ones in hoodies and such like. Saw a bloke earlier coat and body warmer!
Going to be interesting getting home on Tuesday, looking like if trains don't go to or from London they ain't going!

They don't have the series they did in the F1's which was better produced but that one gives you an idea. If you like Motorsport find your local track and go along. It is very hard to get across on film what it's like to be there.
You have to register to watch any BBC content now.
Simply entering Brisca in the Youtube search box will bring up many results, both professionally created and amateur.
If interested enough, the 2litre saloons are worth a look as well.

Tuesday and Wednesday saw myself travelling between KX and Leeds, the information given to me by the acknowledged experts is of 4 of 5 sets of Class 91 locos out working the 2-day Class 91 diagrams, no-one was aware of a reason for the 5th set not out on a diagram
Routine maintenance probably, it's also factored in when diagrams are drawn up.

It probably was Parker, it was his style, I wasn't there but I think you are right. He also set up a match race between F1 and F2 stockcars. Smithy was the F1 driver can't remember who the F2 driver was but he was from the South West and was a top driver. That was the days of F2s using full race 1300cc engines and the F2 ran rings round the F1. The track was White City, Manchester, and was tarmac which suited the F2.
Apologies for the serious thread swerve but I found this after a short Google, to round up the current discussion.
Somewhat out of date regarding the current scene, but straightens out the story, because both Wimbledon and Arena Essex closed several years ago.

Admittedly I do like the whole 'how would they do in X discipline' debate.
F1 driver's are often touted as being the best drivers on the planet. However, in truth I think they are just the best at open wheel circuit racing.
Personally I'd like to see them all thrown into Rally Cars on some fast dirt roads in Finland and see how many end up in the trees 🤣
Of course, the same can most likely can be said of Driver's of other categories too. Many would flounder when given a F1 car to drive.
Many years ago, a promoter (Mike Parker possibly?) managed to organise a couple of showcase type F1 stock car meetings at the old Wembley stadium.
There were a couple of races using tha same cars, possibly Ford Escorts, with the best drivers from, I think, 3 different short oval formulae.
Stuart Smith, the BRISCA F1 driver won all the races, I think the Hot Rod driver was Barry Lee but I can't remember for certain.

Sherwood models in Nottingham has been around for something like 40 years now. The original owner opened on Sunday morning, long before Sunday trading became the norm, I used to have a run over there while the other half was at church, certainly when our son was small and possibly before he was born, he's 42 now by the way.

Hello Folks.
A post from Stationmaster Mike has set me thinking: Rule 1. You, me, and the Postman's Cat know what Rule 1 means, in our modelling environment. But! Is there, or has there ever been a formula?
Just a light-heated question, methinks.
Ian.
Certainly likely to promote some heated debate, see what I did there 😉

Yes, I've just been servicing the green Meld version too and that is quite a bit slower but much noisier.
If it's anything like the last time I ran my Lima Deltic, it has quite a nice drone to it rather like the real things

On my way home from work today, I think, a Renault Dauphine on a 1965 C plate. No picture as I was driving. Very long time since I saw one of those.

A near neighbour in the 1980s had an early Porsche 911 that they were restoring (a very long term project). Bought at little more than a year old for their honeymoon it had punched the front suspension through the rotten inner wings on a bumpy road
All the best

Many years ago I was installing an alarm in the premises of a Ferrari bodywork specialist.
There were several, little more than 5 years old imported from California, allegedly having hardly seen a cloud let alone rain, that looked like net curtains underneath the shiny paint.

Just a thought, the WR 1500 class panniers had outside valve gear and were short wheelbase, although I haven't looked them up. Also single slide bar, a bit of a departure from GWR traditions!
