  1. We are progressing with the storage tanks for the oil terminal We have 8 of these tanks scratch built around a length of plastic waste pipe. This has been covered in plasicard to replicate the metal panels the real ones  are made from. The tops use the lids from storage containers purchased from Wilco before they went out of business

  2. From this year the Redditch Model Railway Exhibition moves from its usual 3rd weekend in September to a new permanent slot on the first full weekend of March. The 2024 show will therefore be on 2nd and 3rd March. The venue remains the Trinity High School in the town centre 10-15 minutes walk from rail station - plenty of free car parking on site at the school

Hi you are quiet right Arrowmouth is one of our exhibition layouts at Redditch MRC and 2022 will mark 30 years on the exhibition circuit as well as 55 years of our Club. One of the trains we ran in the early days of the layout was a model of the XP64 rake. These were based around Lima mk1 coaches with scratch built sides. There is an article on how the coaches were built in an early edition of BRM

Arrowmouth still going strong after nearly 30 years of exhibitions at the Great Electric Train show in October

I was just wondering whether anyone had ever modelled the XP64 stock, and I think the answer is yes - I may be completely wrong here but "Arrowmouth" comes to mind. IIRC this impressive 'coastal' exhibition layout built by Redditch MRC used to feature some interesting late 60s stock many years ago, when few people modelled that era (not much change there.....) although their website is illustrating the earlier steam/diesel transition period. I'm sure it has been featured in magazines and I did see it once, most likely at Bristol. I think a RMRC member was keen on creating unusual coaching stock using plasticard in RTR conversions, including at least one XP64 coach.

That's my recollection anyway, but my ever-ageing grey matter may be playing tricks on me......:mda:
