  1. Sorry there has not been much action on this layout thread in recent months. The layout has been packed away in the club room for much of the last 12 months. However, we have when covid restrictions allowed started our new much bigger 1970's based exhibition layout. More about this soon!

  3. See our Smallwood layout at the Stafford Model Railway Exhibition over the weekend of the 1st and 2nd February 2020 at the Stafford Show Ground

We realised whilst operated the layout at the Gresg Electric Train Show that having three three way points on the lower section of the layout was causing us reliability issues so in readiness for the next outing to Stafford Show in February we have relayed much of the track work on the lower section to remove the three wah points as the pictures show

  9. 46th Redditch Model Railway Exhibition with working layout, trade stands and railway modelling demonstrations. The exhibition has the repetition of being a friendly show with good quality layouts and a wide variety of trade support. A special offer this year if children bring an adult with them they can get in for FREE. Our prices also include a free guide book. There is free on site parking - by road follow signs for Town Centre and then it is Access one off the town centre ring road Venue 10 minute walk from the rail and bus stations.   11. Preparations are well advanced for our Pop Up Model Railway Show this weekend at the Kingfisher Shopping Centre in Redditch town Centre Work has started preparing the otherwise empty shop unit for the exhibits to arrive Door open at 9am on Saturday for this two day event
  12. The Redditch Model Railway Club's model of Chilcompton Station on the former S&D is very much still alive and available for exhibition. Stock includes many scratch built items including some of the former 7F locomotives that predate the ready to run ones Details at www.redditch-mrc.com
  13. The Shop was called Linden Studios and was basically a camera shop that also sold model railways. David Brazier who owned the shop was a founder member of Redditch Model Railway Club back in 1967 but stopped being a Club member in the late 1970's . I understand David passed away a number of years ago
  14. Smallwood will be appearing at the Great Electric Train Show in October at the Milton Keynes Arena
  15. 2nd Pop up Model Railway Show in the Kingfisher Shopping Centre on the 17th and 18th August 2019 in Unit 24 Walford Walk of the Kingfisher Shopping Centre in Redditch town centre This will be open from 0900 until 1730 on Saturday and 1030 until 1630 on Sunday This totally free event makes use of an otherwise vacant shop unit in the Kingfisher Shopping Centre and will feature a number of working club layouts including one the visitors can operate. There will also be displays on club activities. As it is a free event there will not be any trade support. There are plenty of car parks accessed from the ring road for the shopping centre and is right next to the town centre rail and bus stations. Kingfisher Show Poster.pdf
  16. Thanks for the positive comments on our layout. The next planned exhibition is the Stafford Exhibition next February There might be an opportunity to see the layout if all goes to plan in Redditch in August but unfortunately I can safely say we are very unlikely to at an exhibition anywhere near Bogie in Australia From the Smallwood team - www.redditch-mrc.com

  21. In recent days we have added about 20 Brut trolleys onto our Smallwood layout mainly in the parcel depot

  23. Over the Christmas period we have added some safety fencing for the Shunter's cabin and for the fuelling area for DMU's. The laser cut timber fencing has come from the Model Railway Scenery .com range
  24. We have made use of the free grounded wagon body kit that was included with December edition of the Railway Modeller. Our wagon body has been suitably weathered with a damaged roof and is now next to the signal box at Smallwood
