  3. That sinking feeling you get when...

You know it's bin day, the leaflet says it's bin day, the website confirms it's bin day but the road is empty and you're the only person putting your bins out.

I completely forgot this week, even though I drove in the previous evening and others had put their bags out.

  5. Does anyone else frequently find themself spending longer (sometimes a lot longer) searching for something eaten by the Carpet Monster than it would have taken to make a replacement part?

Never mind the carpet monster. How do you find things on Google these days?

Although it's been repeated many times I can still remember the impact of that very first showing of "Don't tell him Pike"

  10. Mystery 3 rail OO tinplate track?

Friend and I were talking earlier, and after digging through some stuff they found some old track they’d got in a job lot for around £50, most of it is Triang standard track (grey plastic base) with one section of super 4, but what caught my eye was two lengths of tinplate 3 rail track, a black tin base, unsure of any branding and they can’t find any markings, can’t be Dublo based on colour alone. At first I thought it may have been Trix Twin, but it’s a tin base, TTR’s was bakelite, any assistance on finding out the origin of this track will be greatly appreciated.

Slightly surprised they didn't cite copyright issues if they wanted a better excuse to hide behind?

Great to hear, and to think you started on here a few years back as a lad seeking info/advice about a job placement, now you'll be passing it on to the next gen.

  22. Upon meeting Her Majesty The Queen at Windsor Castle in 1989, having gained the Queens Scout Award, she noticed I was Venture Sea Scout, and asked what I did for my expedition, after I replied "a hike through the mountains of Corsica", she said with a grin "oh not in a boat then" RIP Your Majesty and God Save The King.

  23. I've just realised that I was talking to Thomas O'Halloran outside Tesco where he was playing his accordian just four hours before he was murdered.  I think he must have been on his way home.  I didn't know him but  I used to see him there quite often and had just told him how much I enjoyed his music. The murder itself was only about 500 metres from my home where I often walk and next to the Greenford branch. I'm saddened  and shocked as is the whole neghbourhood.

Our school playing field was at the end of Cayton Road and I used to have to cross Western Avenue to get train from South Greenford halt in the early 60's (no footbridge in those days)
