  1. Having just finished a cruise where the waiting and bar staff were all from SE Asia, we then went to a 5 star hotel, and the drop in standards was considerable.....sad, really !
  2. AFV 432s are identical vehicles for personnel carriers, ambulance, and mortar carriers. The roof was designed in four parts in orwer that a mortar could be fired from within the vehicle. The only difference is that ambulances had a red cross on a white square on the roof and sides. All vehicles had their radio call sign painted on their sides in white. There would also be a variation in the amount and placing of radio antennas, Originally, they were petrol powered with the exhaust emerging from the engine cover, but about '67 these were replaced by a diesel powered model with the exhaust along the left hand side, Ferret scout cars came in three versions, mark 1 which had no turret at all, mark 1/2, with a fixed turret with a Bren gun mount, and the mark 3 with the rotating turret with a .30 cal Browning MG. This would fit your timescale, Later on the AFV 434 was introduced as a REME vehicle with a HIAB crane on the back in order to be able to replace the engine packs. Sadly, I cannot remember the roof hatch configuration. As a last note, by the time that you are interested in, flotation screens and front bouyancy tanks had been removed
  3. Try Brandbright or Garden Rail............Brandbright sell brass rail, cast whitemetal chairs, and sleepers.
  4. I thought that you'd been a bit quiet lately ! Nice work there, your client should be well pleased.
  5. I look forward to seeing them painted.......godd to see that progress is being made !
  6. good to see that you are still at it, and not suffering too much from distractions !
  7. Sadly, I can't make Basingstoke this year, but, have you tried kitchen roll soaked in PVA instead of plaster on top of the card strips ? Nice work as usual, with all your ongoing projects, pity SWMBO if you suddenly fall off your perch !
  8. good to meet you today and enjoy your layout. If you didn't get awarded best in show, then the fix was in !
  9. Looking forward to seeing you and the railway tomorrow 1
  10. Reminds me of the two garage turntables that I remember in Eastbourne.............one at the garage by The Lamb Inn in Old Town, and the other in Commercial Road. As a pump jockey, I had to operate the one in Commercial Road..things got interesting if you forgot to lock the table when driving on ! When you come to the canopy, 5 & 9 Models do the typical LBSCR canopy supports in whitemetal.......but, I think he just trades on Ebay these days.
  11. The East quay branch was the site for the building of the Sovereign light tower in the early'70s. Some ten years later it was a dumping ground for odd bits of track. I can remember an operating point in the area and at least one level crossing target. Sad to see that the loco shed has gone....still, you can't keep everything.
  12. excellent trees !, so often they let down an otherwise good layout Well done
  13. Very nice ! Signals are never easy in any of the sub 7mm scales.
  14. A very nice job so far. The main difference between the two craft appears to be the rig, with hte Zvedza kit being more of a standing rather than a dipping lug on the coble, This is easily sorted with a mast rake of about 20 degrees aft, andn the yard would be either lashed to the mast or laid on the thwarts. To complete the transformation, might I suggest increasing the tumblehome at the stern, possibly replacing the top strake with 10 or 15 thou plastic to finish of the transformation of medieval to Yorkshire ? You don't specify which scale you are modelling in, if 4mm, then this is quite miniature. Nice One !
