  1. Evening all :-) Having a had a nosy through the Halfords list n not seeing anything that jumped out at me, Does anyone know if there's a Halfords colour that's a fair match for Great Central Railway loco Green please? Cheers Dan :-)
  2. Duly purchased, shopping for a box file and bits this weekend :-)
  3. Personally a couple of reliveries would do me 57604 - Pendennis Castle in Brunswick Green 57603 - Tintagel Castle in GWR Green Just to complete my set :-) Happy New year to all Dan :-)
  4. Excellent, thanks for the help guys :-)
  5. Evening all A few quick queries for an ongoing project I have... 1) is the 4 wheel motor bogie from the O gauge SNCF diesel the same as the one used in the class 33? 2) as I'm new to the bigger scales, as far as reputation, general running qualities n that kind of thing go, is the Lima O gauge stuff on par with the OO gauge motors or are they totally different? 3) how easy is it to DCCify the O gauge motor? Cheers Dan :-)
  6. Evening all Thanks Ed for pointing that slide out. have had a good look at it n now more advice is sought :-) recent cessation of employment means saving for assorted books/slides/prints has slowed down a bit so I'm going to bother you guys in the mean time and see if I can find the answer... So, D6315... I'm modelling mine as pre August 64 (no yellow panels on mine) and a small detail I'm after, I can't see clearly if it's on the slide or not Shed plates! I've seen a picture of her in '69 with shed plates on the lower cabisde fairing on the drivers side so the questions for tonight are... 1) would there have been one on each corner, like the builders plates, or just on each drivers side? (the slide has 2nd man's side nearest the camera and there isn't one there... 2) if they weren't on the fairings in earlier condition, where are they likely to be, if carried at all? 3) having seen various class members carrying them in either red or black, would the colour have been dependent on the depot that they were allocated to or did it just depend on what they had on the shelves at the time? Cheers :-) Dan
  7. That's a good point actually, it's kits that I'm looking to start with :-) n I have tried to do it on my own, I just seen to end up with 2 separate bits of metal n a blob of solder on one of them...
  8. Simon - I was looking at the Fred Phipps kit as well, not sure where I'd put one but I seem to be gathering a collection of 22's in assorted sizes N, OO and O gauge so far, maybe when I've finished the 2 kits I'll start saving for a bigger one :-p I've heard rumor that Steve Beattie is working on a gauge 3 one as well!...
  9. Thanks again for the additional info guys :-) Craig - I was actually looking at the website for the new build class 22 the other night, very much looking forward to seeing that progress! I will have to see if I can get hold of the books you've all mentioned :-) Definitely no eyebrow vents on my kit, n a pretty plain front end so will need to track down some decent pics for positioning of the assorted holes, lights, brackets, grab rails etc. Dan
  10. Morning all Out of curiosity, and if I asked really nicely, is there anyone in the Cheltenham area who would be able to spare a couple of hours over a weekend to teach a lemon how to solder? reading about it n watching YouTube videos doesn't help in the slightest, I learn much better with practical work! Tea and biscuits can be provided :-)
  11. As I'm struggling to find exact details, could anyone help with the following... I've got a kit of a Class 22, it's got the original/disc Headcode nose, and is going to be finished in green with no yellow panel... I'm hoping to number it as D6315 but the only pictures I can find show that loco with Headcode boxes, so did it ever run in the above condition n was just elusive, or did it have Headcode boxes from new? Cheers :-) Dan
  12. Good lord, has it really been that long?!?! Well, life n other distractions aside, I've done some more on the 07... Painting of the handrails, rods and air tanks done and varnishing done, still think the blue is a bit on the dark side but other than that I'm happy with it, just need to get some transfers n stick the windows in :-) probably going to use tension lock couplings for ease of playing on a shunting plank but we shall see...
  13. Thanks Ben :-) Either way I've now signed up for the NGS n it'll be the BP green one for me :-)
  14. Out of curiosity, is the BP green one going to be with Louise nameplates or without?
  15. While not 100% accurate, would some kind of bodgery using a chopped about caley pug body and a peckett chassis be feasible or is the caley pug substantially larger (width/height wise, in model form) than the peckett?
  16. Only slightly off topic, but not only is there one of those about 10 minutes up the road from me, there's also 'For Cod's Sake ' about 10 minutes in the other direction As for the trains, would have been nice to see the GWR liveried 57 in n gauge, just have to get the OO one when it arrives, but Merl Evans and Evening star duly added to the shopping list... So much for my resolution to cut down on new train purchases this year
  17. I originally had all 3 on pre order, but a slight issue with employment (namely me somewhat suddenly not having any) I actually thought I was going to miss out on these, was both spectacular and disheartening seeing the speed with which they were hoovered up from the model shops!! However, With much thanks due to my parents for tracking one down for me for Christmas, my H&P Peckett turned up yesterday, and it really is an exquisite little thing :-) Once the chaos and libations of tonights annual send off are out the way, I'll make a start on an industrial plank for it to play on :-)
  18. A question for the floor, as various references seem vague... The 07 will be numbered 29xx, so pre tops(?) blue, should the con rods be red or yellow? I've found plenty of pics showing both, but a lot seem undated, gut feeling is they should be red though? Cheers Dan :-)
  19. Ok, some progress on the 07... I'm using the Humbrol rail blue, it's an odd colour as (poor lighting notwithstanding) it does appear pretty dark but under decent light actually looks like it should, a little tidying up to do with the front wasp stripes and the handrails and air tanks left to finish but I think it's coming along nicely :-) I've never really had any particular allegiance to a specific region, but another 2 that are in the early stages on my workbench seem to be going with a southern theme.. An MLV using bits from Replica, almost ready for painting, just the handrails left to do. Have decided on Royal Mail livery for this one for a bit of a colourful change :-) And, in the very very early stages, also from Replica bits... What will eventually be a 2EPB, leaning heavily towards NSE to match my Thumper, but I need a bit more practice painting and masking for that.. Planning on achieving the square root of sod all for the rest of the day as beer and rugby beckons, but in between job hunting and housework during the week I'll hopefully make some more progress :-)
  20. Next up, again from Silver Fox My trademark cock-eyed handrails added already, although I did get a touch carried away, as the 2 small ones on the front of the bonnet shouldn't have been glued in place until I'd done the wasp stripes!! Oh well, live and learn! Currently sat on a Mainline class 03 chassis, probably going to have tension lock couplings fitted just for ease n playing on a small shunting plank, and will be finished in BR Blue :-) Hopefully it'll be undercoated in the next day or 2 while I'm working out the best way to do the final few handrails
  21. Ok, so Workbench isn't entirely accurate, that's buried under a pile of half built odds and sods, tools and other general chaos, so I've migrated to the living room coffee table... That aside, first up, one that's virtually finished! A Hunslet DY1 from Silver Fox, complete with wonky handrails, springy buffers and 3 link couplings :-) Still happy with the outcome for a first attempt, although it needs a better chassis. All that's left to finish it (ignoring some minor details missed off) is glazing and picking out the window frames in silver
  22. No pics as yet, but now the proud owner of the of both the MSC and Crossley Evans Sentinels :-) Seems a bit quiet on here of late, is that because everyone has had enough sentinels or is the forthcoming Peckett considered more exciting?
  23. My Harry Beck arrived about half hour ago, must say I'm really really impressed :-) Now due a slight financial hiccup of my own doing, only 4 weeks to wait until I can get my other one... :-)
  24. [quote name="F-UnitMad" post="2327952" timestamp="1465066465" Dapol 08 not far away now... apparently!! End of June, so I'm told :-)
