  1. Hello meatloaf. One layout that could fit your bill is Hillport goods and is one I am very fond of, a quick search will find it. In sf315 [Steve] opening post he says he has some spare boards 10ft x 1ft, he does expand the 1ft by adding some thick foam insulation board pieces to hold some scenic bits on. It's well worth a read. Best
  2. Three in a row................... The beginnings. FLIP- ROTATE- CHANGE
  3. Hello Steve, as you know I am very fond of your layout Hillport Goods even asking to be notified when/if it comes up for sale. just now you are taking it to many shows and constantly adding/ improving it so not much chance of it escaping onto the open market. With that in mind I took my self off to read all the posts I could find about it on the various forums it is on. I learnt that it was a dc system [must of missed that] my preference is for dcc. My mind began to tic over that I could build something similar but based on a TWIN of Hillport........................ not identical but similar. Best
  4. Hello Alan. Not seen this for a while, loverly job. Best
  5. Hello Steve. Hillport Goods is a very attractive and interesting layout with something new always occurring. Best
  6. Yes Nick it will work but going forward Fraser intends to bring out an updated handset for the A3 but that is somewhere down his like to have list for now. Regards
  7. I have today been speaking to both Fraser, proprietor of GBH and spoke with Alex from GLR Bespoke services who both confirm the new version of their DCC controller the Ace 3 will be available to purchase very soon. They have some pre production to video view on the GLR web site. https://www.glrailways.co.uk/index.asp One point of interest to me was there is an intention to update the Ace2 to the later A3 software but not all functions will upgrade i.e. the A3 has a full size edge to edge touch screen. The panel box looks similar size to the A2. One of the new functions is to be able to draw your track work on the screen and activate the accessories from there. It is well worth a look at the GLR web site video. Cheers Barnaby
  8. As you say Rob, it presents a much more professional image. It's amazing how much more impressive a simple drape adds to the viewing. Great.
  9. Hello Martin. Now that is something I have been considering of late too. A compact, but full of interest shunting plank but using set track parts. Ill mark this as one to watch.
  10. My solution is to not bother storing anything on RM save for the very infrequent post/visits made and certainly nothing I may require to refer to. I'm still trying to find all the lost photos and text documents that I had previously saved.
  11. Yes Dog & Fish looking very nice and I will watch out for their weathering. I got me one of those Rusty Rails FLT just deciding what colour scheme to use, probably go Yellow, thanks for the heads up on it. A while ago I asked if you had an intended layout plan to which you replied with some descriptive words and a photo, seems like it's very minimalistic just 1 point, with a traverser at the LH end. I'm presently considering whether to go sector plate or traverser. It would be better to use 1 hand to move the plate and a pivoting at one end sector plate could be best option but...... I think I will get better alignment from a traverser albeit I would need both hands to square it up, what did you do? I haven't looked at all you posts but I will have a check back through in case you have posted about it. Best
  12. Oh is it, when I looked it says 4, 5, 6 Nov with the public in Sat 5 and Sun 6 with Crewe as the location. I need to look it up again. My Mistake I only looked for the Crewe bit and not the Alsager part of the location. 🥴 Thanks Steve
  13. I'll look up the dates etc later as this might be a good one to visit. I think I could sell it to my wife as we used to live in the area 2 years in Wincham, Northwich and 3 years in Holmes Chapel so we may do a stop over and visit a few pubs we know. Best Edit: Oh bum! it's this weekend and that may be too soon to make arrangements, pity.
  14. Thanks Ian J, I was hoping that a member who's much more adept at PC innards may have found a "tweak" that would allow me to do the hard graft for each missing photo but would bring them back to life. I'll go and have a look back through the WAY BACK MACHINE. Best
  15. Hello. While searching the www for some information I was directed back to here, [seems many modelling roads lead back to RMweb]. Unfortunately, the very important part of this information a photograph was missing. Where the photo should be was something like this>>> post-2973-0-68031900-1338290280_thumb.jpg and a little white box. Is there any way I can get these details to resolve into the photo it previously had displayed. It does seem that this info is directly related to the photo but I don't know how to resolve it. If there is a way, can it be made into a sticky for future ref. Thanks
  16. Wot a grotty layout................................... That's a compliment by the way Rob. That waste metal pile is very dramatic indeed. I've been doing some reading on small scrap metal rail locations and what you have achieved is very lifelike. I haven't visited for some time, so I need to play catch up and have a good read. Great work. Best
  17. Several of my missing posts have wording like this showing >>> This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below. <Error> <Code>NoSuchKey</Code> <Message>The specified key does not exist.</Message> <Key>y320084/monthly_2020_03/535690195_somethingforthelockdown..jpg.5c8ded7cae5d958b7dbaeffebc19a639.jpg</Key> <RequestId>KQSFSKVJXXX1YCQF</RequestId> <HostId>XrkteUKT1xXWtqRypJpVMFfG3Z+PdAUX1TRZXGTrE2LH8wKvMn+CiYcrcUrQXDo6EVBvNJBoQPY=</HostId> </Error> Is there anything I can do to to bring the post back into full view again.
  18. Where are we now with the updating of all the lost data. "Continuing to wait" implies at some point the lost data will turn up? My data showing has not changed from the first day back up after the change over of the server. This failure to deliver any remaining data after the first flourish causes me think it will never happen as what was there has already been uploaded to the Forum. Also AY has stated that there was a dispute going on about what data was provided in the backup, has that been resolved. Who actually owns the content individuals place on the Forum?
  19. Great series of posts Nick showing some deft touches in the weathering dept. I see you have made a start on your Tim Horn baseboards, have you got a track plan drawn up yet? It's all going very well and I have tagged it as one to follow so I look forward to your progress. Well done.
  20. I agree Colin and would like to know how far we are down the route of replenishment of all the missing photos, PDF's etc. On the 21st April I printed out my spreadsheet showing where I had made attachments. Checking this again this morning show me that I have not had one photo added in that time, this is beginning to look more like NEVER than indefinite time period for any re-load of photos. What else have I done. Well I can see from the WayBack Machine [google it] all my missing photos are logged in there. Is there a way for me to move them from there directly into my forum posts? I suspect they are from before the crash and will be Dediserve based. I am presently waiting for Invision to respond to me about the length of time they expect it will take for them to re-populate the data after a crash like this. After all this is their business and they do this sort of thing frequently. I've always found that some guidance is always given be it in % completed or time to go so I'm sure they must have some idea. The way I used the forum was more as a reference and inform, update source but many of my stored info posts as PDF's or photos are missing making the forum use useless. I don't know if there is a best practice for self help in restoring my photos but just waiting is not it either. Back to knocking on Invisions door.
  21. Hello Ade layout is looking very good, I like the plan to go out and about in the garden. Sorry to hear you both have had C19 but great you are on the mend. Same for me had the 4 jabs but as soon as they relaxed the need for masks KAPOW I got it. It only lasted a few days, then a bit groggy for a few more but now back to norm. It's main effect was to make me even more irritable than normal [if that's possible]. Best
  22. Thanks gents lots of points there. I think I had become too complacent with the Forum going back to when it was just Andy's Thing and scrubbed some of my info off my PC leaving it only on RM. As an aside I still have all Andy's MI 1 - 5 e-books which I do still look at and very good they are too. Additionally I haven't named a lot of my photos sensibly enough in batches to find them quickly. I also had a HD failure but I managed to get most if not all my information back but trying to sort that then having the RM server fall over left me wondering was the faulting mine or RM server. Anyway I'm improving my image naming and location filing so at the very least they're not all in a one room haystack so if something drastic happens I will be able to locate each item much quicker. Best
  23. Thanks Martin, I'm just trying to decide should I bother to reload all my missing data. I don't want to spend a considerable amount of time only to find it could all disappear again. Phil has said he has had some and says this suggests that some are being done. For me as start all over again on here It may be easier to pick up my other Forum's threads and consolidate on them. This would be regretful as I had made several friends on here and chosen this as my marquee location. My lesson learnt is not to rely totally on a Forum to maintain my input and definitely do not store critical to my need info in any forum posts. You live and learn................
  24. Image restoration from pre-May 2021 continues and may take an indefinite period of time. Any help appreciated. Since the Forum came back online I don't appear to have had any reloads of photos to my topics despite the header saying "restoration continues" Has anybody had any reloads of their photos since the server started again? The above header also states "Indefinite" that could also be taken as never and as I'm not seeing any reloads I'm beginning to wonder. Is there a best setup I should have, I've tried different Browsers etc. but I had no issues before the host problems. What little knowledge I have from dealing with software they always gave an indication, progress bar, time to go so I find it exceptional that some more precise time line is not provided other than the vague header above. It is beginning to look like if I want my photos reloading I will need to add them myself. All this does make doubt the expertise of those managing the Forum software, it isn't just that the server crashed, proper back ups were not being done either. Have any lessons been learnt, can we rely on all necessary backups are being done now? Best
  25. It's about 10 days or more for me without any new image updates which is very disappointing. Has anybody had any new image updates uploaded in that time. Andy, can you show a log of which attachment blocks have been uploaded so I can check off against my missing list? Best
