  1. RIP Grahame, thank you for you explanations and suggestions made on these forums, they were a great help to me. Best
  2. Hello. I know we have intermittent speed issues just now but I also seem to getting multiple notifications from multiple people. They seem to be linked to one thread regarding BG's Hospital stay. When anybody replies to the topic I get an individual email and a PM notice of their post. Normally I just get a prompt per post topic I'm interested in not multiples. It may be something to do with the post for BG linking me to his hospital address in which case many others will be having the same issue. I've not changed anything on my pc. How do I stop it please. Thanks
  3. Looking forward to seeing some photos and maybe even a VIDEO of Hillport Goods at the show. Have fun and good luck with the trip.

  8. Big Dunk until season end then Rooney with big D. to assist.
  9. Knock knock Alan ................is there anything happening here just now, like a short shunting video? Having tried to make a video on my new occupancy "Portobello road" i now realise there is a little more to it than just point & press., but I still ask just in case. Regards Best
  10. The only time I had "random Uncoupling" was when I used incorrect magnets. The ones suggested by the manufacturer work much better, that said with careful magnet positioning the electro-magnets work much more reliably. I also simplified the construction after getting some assistant from a fellow modeler. Basically the modification bends the wire hook in the same way but includes the pivot tube on the wire as it is being bent leaving all the bracketing off. Pivot tube on wire hook >>>
  11. Yesterday I was enjoying a few hours shunting some waggons Inglenook style when I noticed the 20 loco on one part of the track juddered? I completed my shunt and made a note to check that area of track out tomorrow. Firstly the Fowler didn't show any problems on this particular track area, the only difference between the locos is that the Fowler has Stay Alive fitted. On doing a cold track measure this track portion was found to be O/C and the Fowler Stay Alive was just floating smoothly through. I found a connection from one of the Blue Point point motors had become detached. A quick touch of the solder gun and all was sorted. Now that I am in wire tracing mode I remembered that the layout has overhead LED lighting fitted into the top façade and one strip had failed to light. Now the layout is in 2 sections with pattern makers dowels to align the track and with lock over clasps to secure both the bottom and top of the boards. The clever bit is that the DCC was fed through Pattern makers dowels and the LEDs were fed through the 2 top lock over clasps so that when the 2 boards were joined up both boards were supplied with the correct voltage, nifty. After a little searching about in the LED wiring I found 2 breakages, both at the same clasp, the wire had parted on the inside and the clasp outside. A small piece of choc-block sorted the inside break and a new solder tag fitted under the clasp to be secured by a fixing screw sorted that too. Both problems probably occurred when the layout was being re-homed from Harry Bradley's to my hobby shed. Finally both areas have been tidied up with the choc-block hidden away and the wire shortened and placed under the clasp to hide it. Best
  12. Just on Sky F1 sports news Lewis and Mercedes are waiting for the promised investigative review outcome. They want Michael Masi to be sacked and a statement of the rules will be followed and not changed as was done. I don't hold much hope out for any positive decision for Mercedes from the committee as it has taken 6 weeks plus to even start the probe on Monday 10th Jan promising to finish in 3 weeks time. Seems like they are not very keen to probe anything. I can see Lewis not bothering to take part in this years F1 and for that matter Mercedes might also pull out of the whole F1 circus if the rules can't be administered as written and I would agree with them.
  13. Grandma eggs . . . . . . . . you are giving the can a good shake first yes? The Army Painter Colour Primers and Anti Shine Matt ... https://taleofpainters.com/2019/05/review-army-painter-colour-primers-and/ >>> Check out the web page. The result is matt, but not dull. It's similar to the natural sheen of acrylic hobby paints. Compared to Munitorum Varnish from Games Workshop it's very similar ... The important bit of the review>>> When using Anti Shine Matt Varnish it is essential to shake the can for at least a minute, better for two, to properly blend the matting agents. Don’t spray when it’s too cold or humid, and unlike Colour Primers, where you need to get closer to the model, keep a distance of at least 30 cm with Anti Shine. Apply multiple thin coats – thicker coats will leave a more satin result. And most importantly: always try on an old test model first! Seems like multiple thin coats give a better finish than 1 HEAVY coat of paint.
  14. That's a great view of Hillport Goods activity. Did you make a video of the Hillport? What a cracking layout. Best
  15. Great work Paul, as always. I shall have to give some deep thought to this and maybe apply Rule 1 as it is both a wonderful model with a fantastic sound project. Best

  18. A belated Merry Christmas and Happy New year Ade to you and your lady. Best
  19. You can do my Christmas wrapping next year too. Finished model looking well at home on the layout, maybe just a tad more of weathering on the coils to reduce their freshness? Happy new year Steve.
  20. A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you too Rod. I look forward to the continuing journey of WKT and the new adventure ahead through 2022. Oh and may your football team Everton succeed but finish below my team LIV-ER-POOL. Best
  21. An "0" gauge project next, that will be an interesting read. I'd better speed up my reading of The Sidings then. Best
  22. Just found this Layout makes for a great read which I have yet to complete. Looking forward to reading some more. Best
  23. Hello Ray. From memory I used the Pattern makers dowels >>> https://www.stationroadbaseboards.co.uk/z_pop_FD2501.htm Like these for which the board ends have a ready made locations imbedded and ready for positioning. They are an interference fit into the ply so will hold themselves in place while they get screwed up tight. There are other types of dowels and these options are catered for too. Best
