  1. Well it is all set up so I'll be giving it a test drive tomorrow to prove all the electrics. The DCC is nattily done between the boards by using the engineers pegs that align the 2 boards to feed the DCC through. Also there are 2 bus bars made from tinned single core copper wire, one front and one rear that run from left to right which the track connects to. Similarly the top catches feed to 12 volt dc for signals and some strip led lighting, very cleverly done, I'll pop some close up photos tomorrow. I want to steer it away from the TDM it is now to more of a freight based location to allow for more shunting and wagon shows. However I just want to play at first but I will be giving it some thoughts. See you tomorrow.
  2. Crunch time -- Long story short. Coincidence, right place right time, fit the bill all the before. I read on FB that a local group of friends were going to make a show to benefit the Severn Valley Railway and have some interesting items on show for 0 Gauge modellers. The concept expanded into having 7 layouts I thinks and some shop outlets too, Jim McGeown of Connoisseur models to name one. It turned out to be a very successful 2 day event and very much enjoyed by all who attended. Now the coincidental bit -- one of the committee recently put a layout up for sale on a site I am a member of and it pinged me. Now recently I have stalled working on my own build layout by reason of a bad back which if I get under the layout my disc slip. So here was an opportunity if suitable to get me a running dcc working layout which at 10ft would be just right. Today I went to visit and did the deal. This will now allow me to play trains while taking it easy on my own build giving my back time to recover. Going forward I may name change the new layout, add to the single track fiddle yard or make it cassette based. It is TMD set at the moment but I may want to do some minor tweaks to make it more freight biased but initially I will just enjoy playing. Here it is >>> ................ and the wiring is neat with some nifty touches I can learn from.
  3. In case Rod's link above won't work for you 313201 you can try this. >>> https://greenwoodmodelrailwayproducts.co.uk/
  4. EEEEEEEk a wide tyre e-bike naaaaice, legal too.
  5. Hello Phil. Yes that's what I intended to do but found it a bit of a faff signing up and didn't want to become a member of some other communities/groups. What I expected when I clicked on join the gold group was just to be taken to the gold site and be signed up not all the other information.
  6. I have no issue with paying for Gold but all I'm interested in is just the RMWeb stuff. Both Andy & Steve above have said there is a 2nd membership about to happen & I will be able to downgrade so I'll get that done maybe tomorrow online or by phone on Monday. Thanks
  7. Hello, is there a way to have gold membership but without signing up to all the world of railways stuff all I'm interested in is the RMWeb side of the deal.
  8. Barnaby is going looking how to become a GOLD member to rid me of all the google adverts ...... YAAAAAAAAAAH EDIT: well I would be signing up but not yet found the way in online? I have my tea then come back for a play.
  9. I was just thinking the very same. If I become a GOLD member will that rid me of all the adverts ....................... but wait a little, what if all do the same who then will the advertisers advertise too ...... surely not us GOLD members? AAAAAAAAAAH
  10. If a charge to visit is made and I take it up I will then expect to have some say in its running or direction other than to just go or stay. I still have my saved copies of the free MI 1 to 5 that Andy produced, they still get a read and are very good.
  11. I haven't read every post on here but I've not seen mention of who owns the forum content? Would any access to the content freely given need an agreement with the post provider, would each post provider receive a payment for such posted work if the site was charging for its use? This site was a free site and all members give their input freely now the "site" is looking to refund itself to pay for the running cost. This may require the site to produce viewable information of accounts showing costings. For me if the intrusion of ads becomes too much I can always visit less frequently which would seem to diminish the reward made from having the ads in the first place. I do notice other Modelling forums where there is no charge and not much interference by ads either. They also have many of the same people from here who make similar posts on them. I will give careful thought & consideration to any request for a paid membership and how that will personally affect me. Status quo works for me. Best
  12. Is it there all the time Andy, I'm sure Martin Wynne on here mentioned a fix for this in the early days of the forum. As I type I see no adverts like you show.
  13. Any movements been happening down @ Pontfaen Yard lately WRT?
  14. Great modelling Ade, they look excellent. Regards
  15. Hello BG I like very much the fact that all the track is on a curve, should make for a great presentation. Best
  16. Hello WRT, don't forget to pack your camera too. That's spooky, I use to work for "Tom Rolt's" son Richard who was an engineering designer and had a business in Bromyard. His dad Tom had lots of involvement at the Talyllyn Railway and as your Loco shows had one named after him. I managed Richard's business so he could have extended holidays and generally be absent from the factory. As long as I dealt with the factory running, kept the free coffee on tap, kept the secretary in tray topped up, saw that the build time line for the kit was on time he was happy. Best
  17. Yes gents I strive to be neat and tidy but even my layout build slows down and the boards become a shelf table and so the clutter grows. I also a bit like brossard in that the shed fairies make an untidy mess over night. I have got plenty of plastic sealable boxes that stack up quite well but my black pen writing is not neat enough but Georges labelling looks superb. I think I could tell the wife I've got the labeller for her to label up her garden bits in her shed then borrow it for my shed labelling.
  18. George just a quick question on the next to last of your pictures in this post. It shows some labelling on stock drawers in the background which looks like a Dymo tool labeller or similar was used. Which one did you use as I want to sort out my work room so probably a portable label printer will be best for me. Best
  19. Right trying hard to get my mojo into top gear and taking some err a lot of inspiration from various forum people in particular Andy P of Bute Rd. I received these Friday just gone from the postie. They are some pluggable Choc-block and some fiddle yard to layout rail alignment ends, they're quite clever and will allow my cassettes to self align. Now to build up a wire matrix for connecting onto the Mimic board, relay pcb control and DCC using the choc-block.
  20. EEEEEK that was sudden George. Will it still show on here to follow its progress, I hope so. Well I look forward to your next layout build but will that follow on from here maybe entitled Moss Lane Depot . Keep searching for your mojo and when you find it put a link on here so I can follow your next build please as you're one of the ones that helps me to keep hold of my layout build mojo. best
  21. So no lay-in this morning Ade. A hissing, spiting fire breathing dragon has arrived at the window.
