Based on what I'm seeing / hearing I'm pleased that I decided to cancel my pre order on these
-
Good point although I'd expect Hornby to come away with a nosebleed if they went toe to toe with either Accurascale or Cavalex's offerings. Only way I could see them getting anywhere would be by price. That said we need to see if the production models from AS & Cav justify the hype.

Just watched the Hornby Magazine YouTube update and had to upgrade my preorder to DCC Sound - even without hearing it, Alex's enthusiasm for the sound was enough!

Would it be as bad as if you had to buy a couple of Bachmann offerings though - that would surely spell financial armageddon......

Very nice - enjoyed the soundtrack too! :) -
Just got back from holiday to find Cookham Manor waiting on my figurative doormat. Apologies if this has been covered earlier in the thread but can anyone point me in the direction of the guide to fitting crew please? - All I seem to be able to find on the AS website is guide info about decoder functions.....

There was a 409 on RM Classified for £170 yesterday - not sure if its still available but worth a look -
I'm biased given my region but either an Electrostar or an Elizabeth Line unit or ideally both!

Look forward to seeing these @Accurascale Fran Any news on any surplus large logos being put up on your site? -
I do like the 158 in SWT livery but at that price point I think I'm going to have to hold fire for the time being.

Pair of GBRf 50s? In the right shade of blue?

Based on Dapols track record I'd say that they won't arrive in Q3 and that Dapol won't give any meaningful progress update any time soon....

Accurascale And The BRMA 2022
Mooresby replied to Accurascale Fran's topic in Accurascale / Irish Railway Models
A very well deserved haul of accolades.... It's so refreshing to see a company dedicated to accuracy and quality that also actively engages with its customer base. You guys are setting the standards for others to aspire to in so many ways - keep it up. -
This is sure to be a great model so a win for modern modellers! Reasonable to assume that it will prompt Hornby to respond with some sort of price drop for the existing (and very good) model so another win! I look forward to some more livery announcements in the coming months.

Are the drivers and 2nd men also having their release negotiated? -
I've started work on converting the Loadhaul 60070 into DC Rail 60046 William Wilberforce. The roof has had several coats of black Revell 07 and I've just finished applying the first coats of Rainbow Railways DC Rail grey as recommended by Andy7. It's the first time that I've used Rainbow paint and my first impression is that it's excellent. It needs a bit more thinning than Railmatch but its sprays beautifully once I'd got the thinning level right. One thing that the coat has highlighted though is the Loadhaul logo showing through slightly. I hadn't expected it to be an issue and the photo is a bit unforgiving under the halogen light but I need to have a bit of a think about either stripping it right back or accepting the imperfection (which will to some degree be covered by the Railtec transfers and a bit of weathering). Main point is that for my first ever complete repaint I'm really enjoying the process!
