  1. Oops! Thanks for the correction.
  2. Auotincorrect strikes again? I think maybe "plant" should be "plane". So much for modern technology! I agree entirely. Of all of Hornby's talented designers we've 'met' so far in this series, Paramjit seems to be the only one who's a "pukka modeller", so to speak. A real enthusiast. It didn't surprise me at all that out of the whole team he was the one who actually built and finished the whole kit. Made a bl00dy good job of it too IMHO.
  3. "First show of 2022 will be Nailsea" Your autoincorrect seems to have surpassed itself. I think you mean first show of 2023! ;-)
  4. There were plenty of locohauled and indeed locopushed 4TC workings in third-rail land when I lived in that part of the world. By example, the Salibury - Waterloo trains were Crompton powered for the whole trip, even though most of the route was electrified. So no problem to model prototypical formations IMHO. TC sets were a great choice by Kernow as you don't need a 3rd rail layout to run them, unlike a pukka unit. Having said that, I'd love a 4REP to go with my 4TC sets.
  5. Designs of the BR MkI based EMU and even DEMU were very "modular", so to speak. By example, the layout of the sides of the lavatory trailer composite in the 304 etc. are the same as the lavatorty trailer composite of a 3D DEMU, even though the profile is different! As had been pointed out before else where, by tooling one trailer second a certain other manufacturer could pruduce a 4EPB and a 3H in conjunction with existing tooling, but they chose not to do so. Likewise, none of the MKIII or PEP based units are actually alll that different in layout and dimensions IMHO. Perhaps somebody who knows more about these things than I do could confirm or deny that a set of tools planned with Baldrickian cunning could be used to produce a whole family of units over a period of time?
  6. Saturday for two reasons; 1) Every two day show I've ever exhibited at has been far busier on the Saturday. 2) Outside "the Khanpire"* public transport is pretty well non-existent on Sunday mornings, so day trips are impossible unless you drive. *The area under the auspices of The Mayor of London. The portmanteau worked far better when it was "the Kenpire". ;-)
  7. I'd have a couple! Plus a 6S to make up a couple of 3R Tadpole units using "spare" Bachmann EPB driving trailers. 😃
  8. All set up now. Looking to be a great show. Hope to see as many of you as can make it. Do say hello to Roundhouse and myself on Banbury.
  9. I've noticed that the map on the P&DMRS website shows the location of their clubroom, NOT the exhibition venue. So best to ignore that map. HTH.
  10. Everybody knows that all the world's greatest litterary wits are amusing each other here on RMweb. 😉
  11. Sorry to pee on the collective bonfire, but this whole debate is a waste of time. Well before the spectacle of the Old Dalby test the flask design had been subjected to a far more onerous, but less public or "intersting" drop test. The Nuclear industry, along with others, suffers from the propensity of detractors who don't understand detailed technical arguments to dismiss these arguments with the Mandy Rice Davies defence; 'well, they would say that wouldn't they'. So less onerous train crash test was put on to try and pursuade Joe Public that these flasks are safe. The result of which is a lot wasted time discussing conspiracy theories, rather than the desired reasurance! 😉 Sometimes you just can't bl00dy win.
  12. Perhaps a "three pack" of Highland Railways haggis wagons? 😆
  13. My layouts and exhibition kit fits in my car. Just! No room to take my own barriers, so my layout information sheets state "barriers essential". If I don't get an invitation as a result of that demand, cest la vie. Not somehting that I'll ever get upset about. If the host club can't or won't provide barriers for some reason, so be it. Never going to be my problem!
  14. It is possible to convert the existing model of a Hawksworth BCK without too much trouble. This conversion by Mike Peace of the erstwhile slip coach used on the Bodmin General branch circa 1963.
  15. I have no doubt all you say is true. However, where I live we have had recent cuts in the frequency of service because the infrastructure can't cope reliably with 4TPH. So we're stuck with "modest trafic levels" (3TPH) and consequent surpressed demand and overcrowded trains. What we need is shorter headways allowing more trains to run. Instead, we're stuck with an inflexible signalling system that Brunel and Stevenson would recognise. :-(
  16. Around here we still have signalling from the 1870s and 1880s! At least the Brighton line has colour light signals and not waving metal arms on sticks lit by oil lamps and moved by cables and human muscle. Be grateful for small mercies...
  17. There's a few left between New Cross Gate and Norwood Junction. HTH
  18. So long as it's not yet another model of The Flying Money Pit cashing in on the Centenary, I won't mind what it is. ;-) LOL But fingers crossed for something I can use on a layout.
  19. I've been researching these beasts myself for a future project. I'll post here the images I've found on the interweb, but please be aware that NONE of them are my copyright. THey all belong to whoever posted them online in the first place! HTH
  20. Thanks for dealing with the problem rather than sweeping it under the carpet.
  21. I'm afraid I can't help you with that one. 🤣
  22. I've done the cab end door end swap on mine too. Nothing to worry about. HTH
