SWAG Members Day - Sunday 28th April 2019 - The Line Up

It'll go all gooey & the butter will slide off. On the other hand, Toasted Terrier = Hot Dog , which gives an alternative if the pasties have all been eaten. -

True, but you wouldn't want to stuff one of those with thin sliced beef, would you? Actually, come to think of it . . . . -

Haven't had a stottie for years. Used to enjoy them stuffed with thin sliced beef, onions & gravy. Stottie, pasty, cake & trains all on the same day - it's getting better all the time . . . . -

I'd sooner have a Ruby Tuesday. -
Oi! Just watch it, Duck, else you could end up smothered in a nice, sharp tangerine sauce. Actually, that scoreline wouldn't surprise me at all. Bring on all the usual cliches: "It's always a roller-coaster ride with Blackpool." "Let's hope for a towering performance." "The sand's better on the pitch than it is on the beach." etc. At least there should be a reasonable crowd now the Oystons have been forcibly removed. Will we still be talking to each other at 5 o'clock?

What can you say? The man's retired but he still wants to have a finger in every pie . . . . -
Got to be honest & say I really hope they don't get that many next Saturday. I know that the greenies could do with a few more points but my lot could really make much better use of the 3 on offer. After what we've been through for the last few years, the high court has finally chucked out the Oystons & given us a chance to get back a bit of self-respect. Would be nice if the rest of the football community would join in & help . . . .

EXMOOR TRAIN & TOY FAIR - SATURDAY 23RD FEBRUARY 2019
devonseasider replied to exmoordave's topic in Non-modelling Events
Well worth a visit if you're in the area. Especially so this year as Dartmoor Exmoor Dave has said he'll buy all RMWeb members a cup of tea & a sticky bun. (at least, I think that's what he said . . . . ) -
Spent a pleasant hour on the seafront & beach at Seaton yesterday afternoon with the dog. Hazy sunshine, very warm for the time of year and quite a few people around with it being half-term. I know it's a bit naughty, but I couldn't resist this one. Not the clearest of photos and being a 'still' doesn't do the scene justice. You had to be behind and on the move to get the best effect - just imagine the vision of those 4 in rhythmic motion . . . . They do say that dogs take after their owners . . . .

Well, after a long, careful study of the photos I reckon I've got the answer - the signal box has gone! Regarding the other main topic of discussion, never mind Argyle's failure to throw it away at Sarfend - what about the unexpected win my lot got at Pompey? That really was a turnip in the woodpile.

Bristol 7mm Exhibition Sunday Jan 27th
devonseasider replied to Adrian Stevenson's topic in Exhibitions
I think you would do better to go on the Sunday rather than the Saturday Would save a long wait . . . . -
A bit of a long shot, I know, but does anyone have a spare motor for the Bachmann BR Standard 3 tank (aka 82XXX)? Mine was plodding along quite happily when it suddenly came to a juddering halt due to a dead motor. Haven't tried Bachmann - no doubt they'll be closed over the holiday period - and can't spot anything on the Peter's Spares website.

I'll give you Darcy Bussell, but I'll bet your doctor's not as nice as my tottydoc. And . . . Amy Pond can't hold a candle to Clara Oswald. Did I ever mention that the delightful Jenna-Louise went to the same school as me? To be fair, I did leave 30-odd years before she started, but it's the thought that counts, or so they say.

Warley National Model Railway Exhibition 2018 - 24th and 25th November
devonseasider replied to Liam's topic in Exhibitions
Ventnor West - 7mm / 0 gauge layout from Kevin Cartwright, long-time Warley (and others!) stalwart. First exhibition in an almost-completed state, albeit using mainly Terriers as he's only got 1 ( I think) 02 available at the moment. A few very minor teething problems but generally worked well when I operated for a little while on the Saturday. -
Sheffield Exchange, Toy trains, music and fun!
devonseasider replied to Clive Mortimore's topic in Layout topics
That's what my old Headmaster, cane in hand (at least, I was led to believe it was a cane), used to tell us older chaps before getting us to bend over & drop 'em . . . . His wife used to spend an awful lot of time 'looking after the well-being' of the younger boys in the junior school. Very well liked, she was . . . . It's nice to know that we all got a good, rounded education back in those days. -

Roco multimaus firmware upgrade
devonseasider replied to devonseasider's topic in DCC Help & Questions
Thanks - I'll give him a shout. -
I understand that there's a (relatively) recent update of the operating system to V1.05, which gives access to functions beyond 20 (for more-modern sound chips). Is there anyone out there willing and/or able to upgrade a couple of handsets for me? Wouldn't expect it to be done for nothing, of course, if that makes a difference. Perhaps PM may be more appropriate than replying on here?

With all due respect, and purely for the sake of accuracy, it should be pointed out that '68 is/was a Jub, not a Pat, as I'm sure the Hon. Member for Perth, WA, will confirm. You just can't get the staff these days . . . . < Pedant mode off > Straying slightly(?) off-topic, I have to register a coming together on Saturday with young Mr Mortimore who should henceforth be referred to as Specky rather than Spikey, the latter which might be inferred from his avatar - "a long time ago", I understand, from his horsey mouth.

Locos seen on the Somerset and Dorset mid 50s
devonseasider replied to dube's topic in Modelling Questions, Help and Tips
I know the 3MT tanks worked into BGP - seen various photos & references to that - but did they actually work services over the S&D? I've always thought they were just on the Bristol trains.
