  1. Just looked on the Bachmann Spares website. EFE Rail is shown as a seperate heading with the only listing as 'London Underground 1938 Tube Stock' with 'No products are found under this category'
  2. The wagons are not available RTR but I've a feeling the livery may have been used on the 'redemption hire' side-and-end door 20t vehicles available from Dapol and Hornby. These originally were a product of Airfix/GMR.
  3. Being a near broadside view, looking at the proportions I would say that looks 9' wheelbase to me.
  4. The GE van has headstocks as part of the body. The chassis is held in place by small projections inside the body engaging in recesses in the edge of the floor. These can just be seen above the axleguard. A knife blade or thin screwdriver blade worked in between the chassis and the inside edge of the side can be used to lever the side away and ease the chassis out. The buffers don't need removing, they appear to be glued in.
  5. No idea on tender types but the material dosen't matter, you are painting it aren't you? Motors: forget the K's HP2M (top right), it will probably be a weak link, most were high revving and noisy. The other two look fine, the smaller should fit wereas the larger may be a bit bulky. The gearboxes look to be 'High Level' ones which may well do the job. Have a look at their website which has all the details and suggested uses.
  6. If you search 'Wizard Models' on Google, the list presented gives a selection in addidion to what we might expect here.
  7. Clive, I hope when that buffet car was converted for use in a Clacton unit it was able to serve Angus steak!
  8. Clive, by his own admission is a 'fat bald bloke' so he must have broke his legs!
  9. Does the viaduct still carry an operating railway? Clive could cut and shut a version from different colour viaduct kits for Sheff-Ex.
  10. Well done Richard, especially the handrails around the ends that was puzzling you.
  11. Maybe the BR 2-6-0 has been put back to focus on the new P2 which seems to had a fair bit of TV airplay recently . . . .
  12. In 4mm the Dia O34 with the straight-down L-section side members and sack-truck door would be more welcome. The earlier 'Open C' versions are covered by the Ratio kit. Whilst this kit is of its time it is not bad and can be improved/altered to most earlier versions.
  13. Don't know of any two-pipe steam heating systems. The LNER (and LMS) used vacuum controlled regulators for motor train operation which had occoured to me as the other pipe. These saloons were permitted to be propelled but didn't have any more than an emergency brake valve at the observation end. I believe the practice only ceased in recent years. Could Richard's carriage been involved in trials of the VCR system before its general use? The steam railmotors seemingly weren't up to the job so the railways needed a solution. Jim
  14. Youv'e a lot of pipes there Richard! The high placed one to the left looks like a vac pipe. The one curving over on the headstock has the typical shape of a Westinghouse pipe. So that leaves two, one steam heat and the other??? Note the Gresley bogies - is this a later date view than your modelling period?
  15. Received mine today, on time. Not expecting any problems on a 00 layout!
  16. Now at Mangapps Railway Essex.
  17. The loco and coaches looked good and ran well Richard. Thanks for sorting Colin G's problem.
  18. Good to know the length is now right. Has the truss structure been checked? The centre area looks long in proportion to the sloping ends.
  19. Richard, your builds seem quite quick given the research involved and what you are putting in the models.
  20. Hasn't this thread become more interesting than simply frothing about the Oxford announcement!
