  1. Must have done it for the Hastings line then lol :) 😁 I am more than happy with my Lima ones.
  2. I now use BSI epoxy. Also the same companys supaglue. May seem expensive compared to some brands but so far I am impressed with their products. https://eirehobbies.com/collections/green-stuff-epoxy/products/bsi-quik-cure-5-min-epoxy-4-5-oz
  3. I never mentioned about not paying true cost. Hatton's gave a choice of reasonable shipping options from cheap and cheerfull to registered fully tracked.
  4. Good that the database is still going to be available. It would be great if they introduced a Trunk service like Hatton's used to have and have the various shipping options without having to worry about the customs and VAT hassle.
  5. Thats one thing that always amuses me, people complaining about accuracy and minor details or livery errors but happily run '00' scale models on 'H0' gauge track! Used to have DCC sound but was not convinced, Much prefer hearing the sound of the loco and stock running on the rails. :)
  6. Spoke to them on the phone last week to place order, how it works (For overseas orders) is you place your order and then they will get back to you with the shipping cost then if you are happy with the cost you proceed with the order. The pesrson I spoke to was very helpful and was one of the former employees from Hatton's. Must also say that they were very responsive to my email enquiries too.
  7. TMC Model Centre seems to work ok. Placed an order last week, English VAT deducted and then paid Irish VAT + handling fee, delivered Royal Mail and Anpost. https://www.themodelcentre.com/
  8. Has anyone from overseas, EU countires ordered from them, Unable to get shipping cost and what courior/postal service they use to Ireland, sent them a email but not had any reply as yet.
  9. Nothing for that sort of money here lol, you looking at over €100.00 for Dublin for a start, thats one of the reasons why I gave up exhibiting at shows was the cost of accomodation. Big organisations such as Key, Warners etc maybe can bear the cost of accomodation for exhibitors, but obviously smaller clubs that run shows may not which is why 'most' run exhibitions to raise funds for the club as well as promoting the hobby.
  10. I personally like to see a good mix of layouts, UK based, European and Canadian/US, though I will generally have a look at all the layouts at shows even if I dont have interest in a paticulat era.
  11. Got my 0 gauge stock out after being stored for over four years, Have now decided to rejoin the Gauge 0 guild.

  12. Took me some time before deleting Hatton's from my bookmarks! 😞 Has others have mentioned, not the end of the world, but as yet not found any other retailer who is as good has Hatton's were, (For non UK customers).
  13. Very strange looking at the March Railway Modeller and seeing no Hatton's adverts.
  14. Hi Peter, One issue unless I misunderstod it is that you do not deduct VAT for EU orders , so we will end paying additional VAT / Customs handling charges? Is this correct or are you registerd for VAT for orders to Ireland like Hatton's was? ( Not ment as a complaint, just a general query). Regards, John
  15. One of the best for on-line retail, what I liked most was that you could put items in your basket and straight away you would be able to see what the postage cost would be with a choice of shipping options. Most other model retailers you have to go through the check-out process to see what that postage will be and whether or not if VAT/customs is deducted or not. Definalty miss looking at the daily pre-owned listings.
  16. Don't mind ballasting myself, one of the aspects of layout building that I quite enjoy is wiring and ballasting. Its when it comes to doing the main scenic work that I tend to lose interest and want to start again! Having said that, my current layout(s) are more or less completed with scenery. 🙂
  17. Nowt wrong with the Lima 47's. I have a few of them, slowly working through the my 'fleet' adding extra pick-ups and wiring in 8-pin decoder sockets. Adding extra pick-ups even on the traction tyred wheels makes a huge differance and mine run at a nice crwal on speed step 1 in DCC mode. Will eventually add extra details over time.
  18. Was done in 2019 according to their Facebook page.
  19. Hatton's now have up to 50% off some of their remaining items for anyone interested.
  20. If that is the problem then Jenny Kirk done a usefull Youtube video on repariing this, Quite easy, but fidlly to do as I had to reapair my friends one.
  21. I have used this Polish shop a couple of times with good service. Not much railway related but have good range of modelling items. https://www.jadarhobby.pl/
  22. Whats yootooob? have they renamed like facebook to meta?
  23. This was the last item I purchased from Hatton's in November last year. It is currently in the works and will eventually emerge as 50039 in large logo livery. One thing I will miss is looking through the daily listings of pre-owned items, espessially for Lima bargins. Thank you Hatton's for the exellent service over the years. Will definatley be missed.
  24. 2007 was my last visit to the Warley show. Think I went there about 10 times from the mid 1990's.
