Because they are still eastern region, ECML sets.

    In an A1/A3 - A4 - Deltic - HST - 225 lineup, we have 3 down, 2 to go.

If they produce a 225  then you will need OHLE to justify it or a class 67 to drag it around.

I think it would be safe to assume that kids who like trains nowadays would still love the HST and the A3 and A4. Timeless classics.

I would say that the HST/125 is the diesel equivalent  of Flying Scotsmam or Mallard.

You've inadvertently destroyed your own position here. The whole point being that Heljan doesn't need to manufacture coaches, those are well served by the major manufacturers, not to mention tens of thousands swilling around the second-hand market.

Hornby has gone out on a limb, a daring gamble for which I applaud it. But the reluctance of others to invest heavily in this scale before its longevity has been demonstrated is probably prudent.

No, not really, the point being people are saying that Hornby are producing  items and nothing to go with them,  They have Locos, coaches and wagons, yes agree may not all mix era wise, but at least you have a train even if its not quite 100% authentic.

Heljan have produced coaches for their 0 gauge range but nothing for 00/4mm.

Possibly, however, a 66 pulling a rake of imposters would look better, IMHO than on it's own or some small 4 wheeled wagons.

I'm no fan of Hornby but as far as the modellers market (as opposed to the train set market) is they just don't sem to be able to win.

The class 66's pulled/hauled MGR wagons,  ok not in the liverys currently on offer but just apply rule 1 or repaint into EWS livery.

  5. Why is there negativity toward TT:120? , espesially comments about the range not being compimentry or locos with nothing for them to haul.

Just look at the Heljan '00' loco's,  quite a range but no coaches for them, and some freight stock.

Considering it was only lauched around 18 months ago, it has obviously proved to be popular, just look how quicky the current train sets sell out.

Though I mainly do British 00 and European H0 I am gradually aquiring TT:120 items for a future layout.

    Over-compensation?

Heljan seem to have gone from Tubby-Duff to Skinny-Duff!

Bachmann for me - if I were in the market for one.

    Shame!

    CJI.

Must have done it for the Hastings line then lol  :)  😁  I am more than happy with my Lima ones.

Oh yes introduce those costs in to a business rather than an overseas customer paying the true costs and see what happens... oh wait...

I never mentioned about not paying true cost.  Hatton's gave a choice of reasonable shipping options from cheap and cheerfull to registered fully tracked.

  8. Good that the database is still going to be available.

It would be great if they introduced a Trunk service  like Hatton's used to have and have the various shipping options without having to worry about the customs and VAT hassle.

Living around 150m from a real steam railway (albeit heritage) I am well aware of the sounds that are actually heard at that distance and the sounds are whistles and exhaust when pulling away (and the wind is in the correct direction) - otherwise you wouldn’t be aware that there is a railway line there at all.

The distance to the real railway equates to less than 2m in 4mm scale, or less than 1m in 2mm scale - yet I can often here shovels clanking from model railways at exhibitions when they are several metres from me.

Everyone is obsessed with the accuracy of their models at the appropriate scale, perhaps if they adopted the same obsession to the sound that emanates from their pride and joy - especially at exhibitions - there would be a greater acceptance of the ‘need’ for sound as greater realism would be generated.

Thats one thing that always amuses me, people complaining about accuracy and minor details or livery errors but happily run '00' scale models on 'H0' gauge track!

Used to have DCC sound but was not convinced,  Much prefer  hearing the sound of the loco and stock running on the rails. :)

Has anyone from overseas, EU countires ordered from them, Unable to get shipping cost and what courior/postal service they use to Ireland, sent them a email but not had any reply as yet.

Spoke to them on the phone last week to place order, how it works (For overseas orders) is you place your order and  then they will get back to you with the shipping cost then if you are happy with the cost you proceed with the order.

The pesrson I spoke to was very helpful and was one of the former employees from Hatton's.

Must also say that they were very responsive to my email enquiries too.

What kind of room can you get for only £35??

Nothing for that sort of money here lol,  you looking at over €100.00 for Dublin for a start, thats one of the reasons why I gave up exhibiting at shows was the cost of accomodation.

Big organisations such as Key, Warners etc maybe can bear the cost of accomodation for exhibitors, but obviously smaller clubs that run shows may not which is why 'most' run exhibitions to raise funds for the club as well as promoting the hobby.

I still cannot bring myself to delete the favourites link to the store,  hoping it has all been a bad dream.  Optimistically,  I click on the link with fingers crossed with expectations of a positive finding,  but alas,  I need to come to terms with reality.   Hattons has been a ritual daily part of my life for many years looking for something that I wanted.

Took me some time before deleting Hatton's from my bookmarks! 😞

Has others have mentioned,  not the end of the world, but as yet not  found any other retailer who is as good has Hatton's were, (For non UK customers).

As this is a picture of my items I felt the need to add a comment. eBay shipping is a nightmare we can either make everyone pay for each item separately or make people await an invoice. I don't like to o that so we let people combine however eBay has no way of combining items and assigning correct postage appropriate to weight and size. They also take 15% fees from any postage price we add to the site. This is why we have a higher flat rate up to 2kg on ebay.

The best thing to do is DON'T buy from ebay come to our website www.petersspares.com and get the item cheaper than RRP and cheaper postage. It's that simple.

    Thanks Peter

    Hi Peter,

One issue unless I misunderstod it is that you do not deduct VAT for EU orders , so we will end paying additional VAT / Customs handling  charges?  Is this correct or are you registerd for VAT for orders to Ireland like Hatton's was?  ( Not ment as a complaint, just a general query).

    Regards,  John
